Gun control reform will ensure that there will be further stringent checks to decrease further incidents of violence. Reform may not be the total answer to the problem of mass shootings, but it should be part of any meaningful response to so many tragedies. The bottom line is current gun control laws are inadequate. People have been taken from this earth in the shooting massacres all over the United States. No amount of debating will bring back those
At times I feel as if I am incarcerated, even though I am a free citizen. I think the solution to ridding gun violence is to get rid of all the guns. Since that'll never happen, we need to make guns less accessible by creating federal legislation, applying it uniformly throughout every state. Easy gun accessibility is the reason why there are so many homicides because it is easier to pull a trigger than by attacking with a knife or other foreign object. I feel that handguns and assault weapons should be outlawed altogether because too many people misuse them.
Gun Control Debate Paper Gun Control Debate The debate over gun control has been raging for nearly a century, as citizens from both sides of the argument assert their heartfelt and personal views on this sensitive topic. In the after-math of the worse mass shooting in American history involving children at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, President Obama has received demands for action from American citizens who feel that the issue of gun control has been pushed aside far too many times, thus allowing such tragedies to keep occurring. Recent talks regarding stricter gun control laws have sparked a debate between gun owners concerned that their Second Amendment rights will be violated, and fellow Americans concerned for public safety. Those concerned about public safety and the
It’s A Done Deal Gun control has been an ongoing controversy for the past few years. Specially, after the Newton shooting. US politicians are deliberating serious gun control measures, which have enhanced debates on whether or not school safety officers should be armed. I strongly believe that this is a serious matter and actions should be taken. Safety officers should be armed in all schools in order to minimize crime.
Gun control has become a large topic of argument in recent years as politicians have begun using it as a tool to win votes. To me there is no reason why a person should not be allowed to own a gun and have it with them. Especially if they have gone through classes or have gotten a permit for the weapon, but many people see the idea of all people being able to own a gun as a harm to society. Guns have various usages besides the downsides that many gun control supporters capitalize. Many people have guns for the sole purposes of self-defense or hunting.
Haydn Collyer Topic: Gun Control Writing 122 9/25/12 The topic of gun control is a highly disputed one. I believe that America has more important matters to attend to rather than getting into a dispute over something that has been argued since its creation, firearms. To the average American a “gun” is something that is only made for killing and is only found in the hands of villains, criminals and law enforcement/military. I am here to tell you that that is not the case at all. Millions of honest Americans own guns.
The possibility of being able to wield the gun at a time of attack, may or may not overcome the risk of owning one in the first place. The right to own a gun to defend one’s self, or family, may not outweigh the risk The mass murders committed in the past few years, have been in very public areas, where one does not normally carry a weapon, for self-defense or otherwise. Therein defeats the main purpose of owning one. The school shootings, such as one of the most recent, Sandy Hook Elementary School puts the second most blame, on the fact that such an unstable person was able to purchase not only multiple, but also such powerful weapons, legally(Gun Control, 2013). There will never be a time that a civilian will need the use of an automatic weapon.
Is Gun Control the Answer? Gun control is an over thought topic. It has really been in the spotlight since a few recent shootings such as Sandy Hook Elementary and the movie theatre shootings. But is controlling guns going to prevent future issues? Since the beginning of this country the bearing of arms has been a right for the American people for many reasons, one of them being protection, and without them victims of shootings would never have any defense to protect themselves.
They should not be able to take away our rights that were given to us long ago. The people of the United States of America do not like the government trying to pass this law. People use guns for self-defense and hunting. People are standing up for their rights and showing the government that they can’t walk on us. This gun control is making ammunition prices raise.
Guns have been around for a long time throughout history guns have played a major role. Our founding fathers used guns to defend and take over America. They have placed amendments in the constitution to ensure that we will always have guns. The liberals have been calling on taking away guns and making very strict gun control laws. Gun control doesn't work look at Chicago for instance they have some of the highest crime rates but yet they have some of the strictest gun laws.
