Nick Dorsam Mrs. Farthings Grade 12 English 12 Ever since i was younger i seemed to always be involved in the law enforcement, I have always enjoyed helping others. I want to be able to make a difference in my community. Many law enforcement agencies encourage applicants to complete either a 2-year associate's program or a four-year bachelor's program in a criminal justice related area. I would be honored to take this program to be able to help my community and help others. Most larger police departments run their own police academies. To qualify for training at a police academy, candidates must pass a background check, and must not have any felony convictions. These things are no joke. One of the greatest challenges facing the criminal justice system is the need to balance the rights of accused criminals against society’s interest in imposing punishments on those convicted of crimes. This tension is illustrated by the debate over whether defendants have the right to be represented by an attorney. Whether or not those accused of a crime should be vigorously defended by lawyers, and whether lawyers should even accept such a case in the first place goes to the heart of the issues in Criminal Justice: Opposing Viewpoints. The UFC brings together the most talented martial arts experts in the world. UFC fighters come from the US, Canada, Brazil, Japan, Russia, Holland, England, etc. All UFC fighters have previous combat sports experience and many are world or Olympic champions. UFC athletes train up to six hours a day or more in preparation for an event. Almost all have studied martial arts as a lifelong vocation and many are college educated. In addition to their UFC careers, many of these men are business owners. They are also students, professionals or managers working for diverse types of companies. But it is the success, discipline and focus of the Ultimate Fighter that make them different from just about any other competitor in or out of mixed martial arts. I have been training for UFC fighting since i was young. The UFC is a great sport for fighters. The age requirement for UFC is 18. I find myself completely compatable for UFC fighting. I have trained myself from the time i was only 10 years old. But sometimes i find myself coming back and fourth from the police acadamy to UFC fighting i cant quite decide which is best for me.
