Jodie Kaser English Composition II 707 Kathleen Gallgher 04-01-2013 Title?!?! When I first thought up my topic I was all for drug testing welfare recipients. If you can be drug tested to work for your money then there should be no problem being drug tested to receive "free” money as well. However, the more I read into the topic I realize that drug testing welfare recipients is not only a violation of the 4th amendment, but based on stereotypes, expensive, and ineffective compared to other treatments as well. Drug testing innocent welfare recipients violates a person’s rights under the 4th amendment.
Assignment 4: Report Plan Topic: Drug Control Student: Khaydarov Dilshod Professor : Michael Hunter Course: Eng-315 Date: 11/18/2013 Audience: Government Drug Control Do you think we should legalize drugs? Do you agree that we are spending too much money in drug control? Would our children and society be safe if there were no drug control anymore? Drug control has been a social pathology problem that overcomes the safety of all Americans. Debates about drug legalization, which started with the issue of medical use of substances, have been taken place, creating a strong argument.
For instance, it only makes sense that welfare recipients should have to take a drug test in order to qualify for benefits. People say that this is unfair by singling out the poor people, or that it invades their privacy. This simply isn’t true. Some companies have people submit to a drug test even before they go through the interview process when applying for a job. This is because the companies have realized the benefits that can come from a drug-free workplace.

Forced Drug Testing Should defendants be forced to drug testing before trial? Pre-trial drug testing has been a controversial issue for a while now and some believe that it violates some of his or her rights as an American. “Pre-trial drug testing is based on assumption.” (Neubauer, 2008) “In December 1995, President Bill Clinton directed Attorney General Janet Reno to develop and implement a universal policy providing for the drug testing of all federal arrestees before the decision is made to release them to community pending trial. He also directed the Attorney General to take steps to encourage states to adopt and implement the policy.” (Henry & Clark, 1999) His reasons for this policy is that “too often, the same criminal drug users cycle through the court, corrections, and probation systems still hooked on drugs and still committing crimes to support their habit. We should react at the earliest possible stage in a person’s interaction with the criminal justice system--------following arrest.” (Henry & Clark, 1999) Personally, I disagree on this policy.
The study concludes it destroys beneficial intestinal bacteria. However Duke University has a lot of financial backing from the sugar industry. James Turner, chairman of citizens for health was shock an outraged by Dukes findings; He even states that the same study used to conduct the finding of obesity and side effects is the same study use to get the product approved from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. What we can conclude is there are still conflicting information out there in relations to artificial sweeteners and more studies will have to be done to conclude if splenda is safe, as well as if it contributes to obesity.
