Killer Whales are marine animals that live in oceans all over the world. Although they live in many oceans, they seem to prefer coastal waters and cooler regions. The Killer Whale, sometimes called an Orca, sometimes enters estuaries, but doesn’t go far from the sea. Killer whales are one of the top predators in the sea. They are good hunters that eat a large variety of fish, squid, sharks, marine mammals (such as whales and seals), turtles, octopi, and birds (penguins and gulls).
The pots were about 3 feet 6 inches and contained two to three dozen good size crayfish weighing about two several pounds. The men said it was about one hundred and fifteen to three hundred feet long. Another eyewitness saw a great white shark the size of a tractor trailer had attacked a person. Many sharks have been clocked out as fast as 1.5 miles and the mega shark could probably swim in a longer distance since this is a bigger shark. Two percent of the ocean has been overlooked by people ant it leaves ninety-eight percent of the ocean for the megladon can swim.
Although sharks did not appear on earth until about one hundred million years ago and were thought to be of decent of the mackerel shark modern day Great White Sharks teeth have been dated back sixty five million years ago to times when dinosaurs were still alive. Early in shark evolution two main families were created. One of the lineages in which most modern day sharks are decent of were equipped with coarsely serrated teeth. The other lineage were equipped with finely serrated teeth but could reach over 50 feet long and have been discovered to eaten large marine creatures such as whales. There are over four three hundred and seventy species of sharks ranging in size from the smallest shark the pygmy shark which doesn’t normally grow larger than six inches , to the whale shark which can attain sizes of thirty five to forty feet.
Chris Chapman Dr. Karen Keane-Hines Anatomy &Physiology II MANATEE Long ago manatees were mistaken for mermaids or sirens-luring sailors to their deaths on rocky shores. So the order of these marine mammals has been named, Sirenia. There are five species: Amazonian, West African, and West Indian with two sub-species the Florida and Antillian Manatee. All have front flippers and a solid, flat, paddle shaped tail. Another related species, the Dugong, has a fluked tail.
The Great White has only one natural predator, the orca. There is very little known about the population status of this shark, however it is uncommon compared to other species. The IUCN has given it a label of being vulnerable, but not yet an endangered species. Fisherman go for sharks to collect their teeth and fins. There is a 250,000 dollar fine for anyone who is caught fishing for a Great White.
You see, horseshoe crabs aren't the only ones traveling to these beaches. At the same time, huge flocks of hungry birds are making a great journey of their own. These baby horseshoe crabs look just like an adult except that they do not have a tail and their eyes and digestive system are not yet fully developed. And they are small – only 3 mm across. It takes 9 or 10 years for horseshoe crabs to become adults.
Map Rainbow Trout Range Fast Facts Type: Fish Diet: Carnivore Average life span in the wild: 4 to 6 years Size: 20 to 30 in (51 to 76 cm) Weight: 8 lbs (3.6 kg) Group name: Hover Did you know? The largest rainbow trout on record weighed 57 lbs (25.8 kg) and was estimated to be 11 years old. Size relative to a tea cup: The sperm of rainbow trout contains protamine, which counters the anticoagulant heparin. Protamine was originally isolated from fish sperm, but is now produced synthetically. The rainbow trout is native only to the rivers and lakes of North America, west of the Rocky Mountains, but its value as a hard-fighting game fish and tasty meal has led to its introduction throughout the world.
The home range of transients is much harder to define than that of the residents. As the nickname suggests, transient pods roam in search of food. They eat marine mammals almost exclusively: seals, porpoises, sea lions, and even other whales. The social structure of the transients is more difficult to define; it appears to be much more fluid with distantly-related members often changing pods. In my personal observations and time spent on the waters of Monterey Bay in California I have seen transient orcas who have been photo identified in waters as far south as Catalina Island and as far north as Alaska, in each location with different travel companions.
(0.90 to 1.36 kilograms). The largest penguin is the emperor penguin. It grows to 36 to 44 inches (91.44 to 111.76 cm) tall and weighs 60 to 90 lbs (27.21 to 40.82 kg). Where do penguins live? Considered marine birds, penguins live up to 80 percent of their lives in the ocean, according to the New England Aquarium.
(2) First, I would like to tell you some facts about sharks. Sharks have been around for 400 million years, longer than the dinosaurs. There was even a shark called the Megalodon that was 40 to 50 feet in length and weighed about 48 tons. Sharks have changed very little since the time of the dinosaurs because of highly advance adaptations. (3)  Sharks smell is highly advanced and can pick up on its prey from hundreds of meters away  Shark eyesight is about the same as a humans  Shark have what is know as a lateral line system that uses thousands of jelly filled pores that pick up on vibrations of other fish and prey, this is so advanced that a shark can even tell if a fish is injured or sick.
