Anthony Piccininni Mr.Tenney Eng 101F February 10, 2012 “Watching My Back” In Jeff Z. Kleins work he makes it pretty obvious that the world we live in is drastically changing , way faster than we can realize it . Klein states how while he was away on a new years trip with his girlfriend in Prague he was attacked by a drunk assailant. Now in most scenarios stereo typically the man would react to the situation and defend him self and or his spouse. Surprisingly there is a twist to this story, opposed to Jeff defusing the situation his girlfriend took the initiative and assessed the situation in a more calm and controlled way than he was capable of doing on his own. In life people tend to use broad generalizations or stereo types to describe what someone does or is supposed to do with out giving them a chance to be their own voice of virtue . As Jeff Klein states in his work “its nice to have a girlfriend who’s got your back”, obviously you can see in a world full of stereo typical people there would be a great sense of confusion because in the stereo typical relationship the man will usually assess physical altercations and will protect his spouse at all costs. As you can see that is not what happens in this case Jeff’s girlfriend has been taking self defense courses to learn how to defend herself in the real world if need be. On their vacation she put these skills to the test when a drunken native to the city of Prague approaches her boyfriend jeff. Screaming and shouting at him jeff really does not know how to handle the situation at all and this is where the self defense courses came into play. Jeff states that out of the corner of his eye he saw his girlfriend standing confidently as if she where in class saying “Back Off!. Go away!” Not in this day and age, stereo typing and generalizing are starting to become a concept of the past. I state that
