When traumatic situations occur, people cope in different ways depending on who they are. In the short story “Scars and Scales” by Sarah Rakel Orton, there are two versions of how the characters grieve the loss of their mom. In referring to scars, the title suggests how females are able to cope mentally, whereas scales represent how males cope physically. Even though women can help others deal with disturbing conditions, men are better at curing themselves due to less mental strain and have the ability to move on quicker. During a time of sorry, the main difference between male and females is that females feel it is their responsibility to become the leader of the situation and take care of the people around them.
Despite the criticism he receives from his customers, Singh seems to hold his wife as a major and main priority in his life and could suggest that his emotional and mental wellbeing depends on his wife. Likewise in “Checking out Me History” the poet also uses repetition. However, the repetition of the word “Dem” (which is probably school teachers), shows that he is directly addressing them and could perhaps show that he feels strongly about the fact that black history is not taught in schools and is forgotten about. It could suggest that he could be blaming them for not teaching about black history. This creates an interesting character as it portrays the character’s passion and will for teachers to teach black history in schools and also shows the amount of pride that the character has for his culture and how he wants people to

And in someone berating their boyfriend or girlfriend, people have arguments and I feel its best that others keep themselves out of relationships they aren’t involved in. No one should be in your business anyways unless you are putting it out there for everyone to listen in. Although if a relationship gets violent then someone should step in and help. However, I feel that Raymond was not berating Cathy, Frank was. The differences between the examples from the movie and the example of the berating girlfriend is that when Cathy’s best friend Elenor seen that violent behavior was happening in Cathy’s marriage, she could take that as her business because she was close to cathy and seen that Cathy had bruises on her.

He did keep his appointment with his therapist, who was treating him for sex crimes for which hed received parole. Knowing his preference for girls with long hair and his fantasy about holding a girl captive, the therapist asked if he knew anything about the missing Rosario. He looked her in the eye and denied it.
A simple plot frames the story: the family goes on an outing to attend a family party, the fiesta of the title. They take a newly purchased van, the smell of which causes poor Yunior throw up; so before they leave for the party, Yunior's father refuses to feed him. The van, a symbol of the family's rising prosperity in the US, is a source of pride for the father, but a nuisance to Yunior, whose sensitive stomach is a figurative barometer of his family's troubles: as their prosperity grows, so, too, does his parents' marital discord. Yunior is no innocent, and he is aware of his father's philandering. Yunior's knowledge is revealed in small flashback vignettes that interrupt the party scenes.
