Rowlandsons’ other philosophy is that God will help her with her troubles and sorrows in life. Again she brings forth, “when though passeth through the waters I will be with thee, and through the rivers they shall not over flow thee.” Isaiah 43:2 (39). She alludes to this because she intends to show that god will protect her throughout life's natural evils. When she states “-and through the rivers they shall not over flow thee”, she is protected by Gods love, and that she can always trust in her God. This is a good quote because she is specifically giving herself comfort in the fact that, God is always with her, and as long as she has God on her side, not too much can really go wrong, which then brings about the main philosophy that, God has a plan for everyone, as long as you keep your faith in him.
They must also have loyalty to the church and also protect the church. Just like the bushido they must have great courage in battle. They must be generous to the feeble as well. Lastly, they must champion a lady. Which of the elements of bushido and chivalry would work well for a code of chivalry in today’s world?
The story of the hero is told to rejoice in valor. The story of the saint is told to celebrate faith. (Wells, S. 2004 Improvisation p43.) After listening to both lectures, my understanding of these terms are ; Saints do what we won’t want to do; deny themselves, fight their natural urges and live in adversity rather than conquering it. Saints are almost always formed in marginalized situations where their best gifts are dismissed or unrecognized and this causes them to do what the situation demands of them by faith and patience.
Since the husband’s role is to go out and provide a living for his family, the wives job is to look after the home. It may not be considered a public work, but her position within the home is still very vital and important. Her role is a non income producing activity, but ensures the success of the family. Another role for a Christian wife is the raising of her children. Titus 2: 3-5 states that, "Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored," (The Christian Woman", 2004).
And the reasons that maybe she thought of, was maybe they got to experience and overcome this happening so that they may learn, maybe it was God’s will, maybe God was showing something to them and to all of us that this is all our fault for trashing earth, maybe it was the Belon family who need God to show everyone and let everyone reflect from all our wrong doings. The lines “I don't wanna be someone who walks away so easily, I'm here to stay and make the difference that I can make…” this perfectly fit for those people in the movie who never gave up on searching for their relatives especially Lucas and his family. And the lines “I won't give up on us, Even if the skies get rough,I'm giving you all my love,I'm still looking up” simply shows how a mothers love can be so powerful and that she would do anything for her
The Koran begins by asking all to “Fear God, in whose name you plead with one another, and honor the mothers who bore you. God is ever watching over you.” We see this honor pretty much all throughout history and various cultures. Most have this notion of honoring the one who bore you into this world and gave you this physical life you have in the present. Aside from that, women were not really honored, except for the role of a wife. But even then, this role had restrictions and expectations that came with it.
We live out our given lives as a journey given to us by God as well. Once our journey is through, we will inevitably meet with our creator once again if we have lived the chosen path. It’s a never ending cycle where we are released and taken in by the same parental figure when we’re alive and dead. Daly reports that women are faced with the same sort of role. The only difference is that the parental figures are people in their lives who nurture them throughout their lives.
Phoenix knew she was in the right place at the right time. The thorns in life are meant to keep us on the right track in life, but to also put us through the hard times so we know what God has called us to do in the life he gave us. Knowing that Phoenix would do anything for her grandson theirs also more symbolism hard times and her not being afraid of death. “ Then she slowly straightened up, she stood erect, and the nickel was in her apron pocket A bird flew by.
Furthermore, she thinks that spending money is a reward for herself after her hard work. Apart from that, mother always rely on God. In her point of view, God is the controller of our lives. Everything that happens in our lives is of fate and destiny that have planned by God. For this reason, religion is very important in her life.
Underlying principles can still be found in scripture which answer the inquiries of today’s women. Some of these include: what characteristics a Godly woman should possess, what her activities consist of, and where her interests should lie. These issues and many more are dealt with in the 31st Proverb; one of the most well known and commonly discussed Biblical references for the description of a Godly womanhood. It should be the duty and delight of every woman of God to know His plan for femininity, as is found in this Proverb. We must be diligent in discovering the truths therein, and apply them to our lives today.
