Wal-Mart: “Evil Masterminds” As the every one knows Wal-Mart’s financial wealth has derived from their famous slogan “Save Money, Live Better”, this sound good but to what cost. The 200 workers in Jonquiere, Quebec sought out to better their working conditions with introducing the first ever unionized Wal-Mart and were so close, but yet so far. So the “soldiers” in this business battle would be the Wal-Mart Company, Andrew Pelletier (the spokesperson for Wal-Mart), on one side, and on the other would be the workers for the Wal-Mart in Jonquiere, Michael J. Fraser the national director of UFCW Canada. The Wal-Mart giants closed there doors in Jonquiere due to the fact that were “loosing money” in this specific Wal-Mart. Coincidently before the decision to close in May they were in a 3 month union disagreement of terms that consisted of nine meetings, and were going loose. Jonquiere was going to make history they were going to have there first ever unionized Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart excuse for the disapproval of the union contract, to paraphrase Andrew Pelletier would be “anti-efficient and anti-profitable” to have an agreeable union contract. The problem is that this affected all the workers who work in this Wal-Mart, even the one against the union for example Claudia Trembley. She is a single mother who is raising two children she had nothing to do with the battle but now the result is that she does not have a job. To play the devils advocate, Wal-Mart seeks to always have the lowest prices in cutting cost and not being unionized. Being a company that has a union would result in the price of goods to go on their sales. They would loose a lot of money because the only reason people go to Wal-Mart is for there impractical prices. So even though it seemed that Wal-Mart was on the verge of being unionized they would never agree to the contract. As stated by Andrew
