Violent Children In today’s society there are many problems with how kids are raised. In the United States of America, children are raised in harsh and struggling environments. The conditions that kids may be exposed to, raise them to be violent. Many generations are mainly raised with divorced parents, bad neighborhoods, tight finances, and gangs. All these things collaborate to create a very unstable life to grow up in. More of today’s children are violent more than ever before because of the areas they grow up in and the situations they are forced into at very young ages. Children are acting very violent in society as of late. Many kids are put into juvenile detention when they are as young as nine years old. The kids that go to juvenile detention become used to a life in jail and therefore feel more comfortable with being confined and think of jail as nothing to worry about. When the kids do that, they may look to gangs. Gangs are like families to many kids. They find father figures in older gang members. When the children get involved in gangs, they fight, sell drugs, and in more serious cases, commit murders. They don’t know what they do is wrong because the gang is the only “family” they really know. The gang behavior creates a violent life for a child to grow up in. The gangs also include the youth in their drug using, and selling. A lot of gangs use young kids to sell their drugs because less people expect children to be selling drugs. The structure that the gang gives the kids leads them into bad situations, and violence. The increase of divorce has a huge impact on children, which leads many kids living in bad neighborhoods because the parents can’t afford to live anywhere else.
