Conflict between North and South Vietnam The geography of the region in which it occurred: The Vietnam War lasted from 1955 to 1975. It was fought between North Vietnam and South Vietnam. North Vietnam was supported by the USSR, China and North Korea, while South Vietnam was supported by the United States with its allies, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines. This conflict between pro-communist and pro-capitalist countries was part of the Cold War. What happened during this event: Before World War II, Vietnam was part of the French colony of Indochina.

The Vietnam War is just another event or period of time in American history, or so some think. Wars affect both the people on the battlefield and the society at home. This era of the Vietnam war was no different. The war in Vietnam began in 1957 and ended in 1975. The communist government of the North wished the United States to stop their support of the South Vietnam efforts against communism.
Why Did USA Enter the Vietnam War? USA’s contention from the start for entering the Vietnam War was pretty simple, it was their domino theory which gave them an idea for participating in the Vietnamese war, which was also known as the Indochina war. The domino theory was a theory based from the 1950s to the 1980s which speculated that if one state in a region came under the influence of communism, then the surrounding countries would follow in a domino effect. The domino theory was used by successive United States administrations during the Cold War to justify the need for American intervention around the world. Before America joined the Vietnamese war, France invaded Vietnam and made Vietnam a colony.
There were many different wars throughout the history and the United States has been involved in many different wars with different objectives and results. During the second half of the twentieth century, when Vietnam War happened, U.S. was involved in effort to stop communism from spreading as it did when Korean War started. The United States was part of the United Nations, and when North Koreans attacked the South Koreans threatening to take over south so they can be under the same law of communism, the United Nation as a whole decided to send military aid to South Korea, and of which the United States supplied a large portion. The South Korea was able to win against the North Korea with the help from the United States and United Nations.
The art form of music influenced the culture of the Vietnam War era more than most musical eras have ever impacted their respective cultures. During the Cold War era, the United States fought a war against communism in Vietnam. This war would come to be called the Vietnam War. In 1955, French forces fought against the communist army known as the Vietnam People’s Army. The Vietnam People’s Army was associated with North Vietnam and it was backed up by the Soviet Union.

The U.S. and the U.S.S.R. were at war because the U.S. had a capitalist government ran country, while the U.S.S.R. had a communist government ran country. The Vietnam War that took place in the Cold War was that the North and South were divided on the 17th Parallel because of communism. Many people ask the question, “Why did the U.S. even care about the Vietnam conflict, let alone fight a war there?” One Reason for U.S. involvement in the Vietnam conflict was that the U.S. feared the Domino Theory.

The war began as a determined effort by Communist guerrillas, which is so called the Vietcong, within the South, and by CommunistNorthVietnam, to defect or down fall, the government of South Vietnam, which the confusion extended into a war among North and South Vietnam and eventually it ended up too being a defined international conflict. The US and like 40 other countries gave support to the South Vietnam by giving troops and munitions, and the people’s Republic of China followed by the USSR supplied munitions to the Vietcong as well as the North Vietnam ("The impact of," 2013).
Syngman Rhee, who had spent some years exiled in America, became the president of South Korea in 1948, while Kim Il Sung, having fought for the Russian red army during the war became leader of the People’s Democratic Republic (Communist) in North Korea. I intend to outline the causes and contributing factors that eventually led to the Korean War. An underlying factor in this conflict are the two very contrasting political systems in North Korea, The communist North led by Kim Il sung had links with fellow Communist nations such as China and the USSR; In April 1950, Kim Il Sung actually visited Moscow and by May and June Military supplies were being sent to north Korea including 150 T-34 Tanks. Similarly China did not want to have an American influenced democratic country bordering its frontiers so they too were always likely to support Kim Il Sung and the North Koreans. In The South Syngman Rhee's supposedly democratic government was likely to gain American support due to the fear of the spread of communism sometimes referred to as the "Domino Theory" However just as the Soviet government had only given limited support to Kim Il Sung as they feared the potential of a direct conflict with American troops, the USA did not provide an air force for the South Koreans as they too did not want Syngman Rhee to abuse his advantageous
