Poor conditions, Average response times, Ramped at hospitals, A failing health system, Mental health issues, Extreme pressure, Deadly Tired Ambos, Inappropriate wages, Crippled service, Seeking professional pay. This is the slogan I saw sprawled across the rear window of an ambulance. A bold protest against the injustices experienced by Victorian paramedics; individuals that can be considered heroes. Teachers, consider this. Beaconhills College has just had an opening for new staff and the pay is much higher in comparison to here. Would you leave? This scenario, if altered can be easily relatable to the Ambulance Victoria pay dispute. Simply put, Ambulance Victoria paramedics deserve better pay. We are losing our paramedics to states such as WA and ACT. Victorian paramedics are the most underpaid in the country, and yes, in comparison to WA, they are receiving $23,000 less in their yearly salary. These paramedics have been persistently protesting for some appeal. It can also be said that the stress the paramedics are put under can be detrimental to their health…show more content…
An anonymous paramedic responded to Napthine with the following statement about the use of liquid chalk on the side and rear windows of vehicles. “I note that the recent examples of paramedics writing with chalk on the windows of ambulances seems to have caused quite a stir. Just to confirm, these are paramedics writing with chalk markers on glass windows. This chalk washes and wipes off with no lasting effects. No defamation has occurred.” The paramedics have been protesting peacefully for the past 2 and a half years.
