This merger has several different interest groups waiting for results. They include current consumers of both AT&T and T-Mobile, other cell phone providers such as Sprint, Verizon and Cricket, the Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission. A main concern of this merger is that of competition. If this deal goes through, it would leave just three major cell phone companies in the country: AT&T, Verizon and Sprint Nextel. This deal would ultimately make AT&T the largest cell phone service provider.
Symptoms: RIM has held a strong market share in mobile devices in several variations in the business sector. RIM has been successful in marketing its products to businesses and executives to becoming the industry leader for mobile devices. The consumer industry was unfamiliar turf but RIM realized there was a demand for their products in the consumer industry. The Blackberry Pearl would incorporate RIM business features with consumer features. The option of internally controlling marketing in the Blackberry Pearl would allow the company to further control their image and brand in the consumer industry.
Virgin Mobile in the US (Situation Analysis) Customer Virgin Mobile has identified an opportunity window in serving customers aged from 14 to 24 (targeted by advertising). These customers have in common poor credit quality, which both means they are not eligible for traditional US carriers who require credit checks to sign up a contract and that they are going to be very sensitive to price. Also, this group provides low value and very unstable revenue for each subscriber. Finally, this kind of consumer is generally savvy and doesn’t like the idea of being fooled as a customer.However, this kind of customer is very prone to spending money on additional services such as text messages, graphics and ringtones. To them, their mobile phone is not just a tool to make phone calls; it is also a fashion accessory.
The various options in wireless technology found at Verizon is one of its strengths. Weaknesses A lot of their employees has reached their retirement age. Also, Verizon is trying to expand their Cable TV and home phone (Files), but many of the markets and territories are already taken by large companies (Time Warner, Cox, ATT Uverse, Comcast and more). Opportunities The wireless market is growing more and more worldwide, therefore, there are potential markets for the company to enter. Including not only local, but global, businesses, residential and government markets.
Furthermore, it is also used later in the acquisition of new business and the retention of the customer. Verizon uses this information to determine the quality of customer, how many lines they qualify for, how much (if any) security deposit is required. Meta data is then collected about their habits; purchases both within and without Verizon, data usage, form of data used, etc. This information is part of the last example in the previous paragraph, customer information. This is the information that is most important to the profitability of the company and therefore needs to be the most secure.

When several companies hold the same level of technological competence MobAir’s ability to sell cell phones decreases dramatically. This was evidence in round 5, where profits reached a negative number. As a result, demand was spread over (6 of teams) leading to weak industry wide demand.
In fact, those “growing” companies are not truly “growing” because that even if they are still making profit, they are losing consumers and market at the same time. Especially those companies who owns irreplaceable resource and products for now, they should have a clear cognition that no product is indispensable forever. In addition, companies always narrow themselves to a limited area so that it is hard to have extraordinary improvement in their products. In order to keep their competitiveness in this rapidly developing age, asking for trouble is necessary so that companies will be pushed to develop products to reach higher level of consumer satisfaction.
