Furthermore, Suzuki effectively discusses the quality of life for the animals being tested, and the depressing and deprived realities that these helpless animals survive. Suzuki makes valid points throughout his article including his statement, “What gives us the right to exploit other living organisms as we see fit? How do we know that these other creatures do not feel pain or anguish just as we do?”(p.91). Suzuki utilizes pathos to strengthen his argument and attempts to shape the opinion of the public. Is it intelligence that determines the animal’s self-worth and right to live, or is it that animals may possess the same if not identical Neuroanatomy of humans?
Numerous animals are mentioned many times throughout this novel. It is clear that Robert- the protagonist- has a connection to animals. He runs about with them as if he is one of them. The animals communicate various messages to the readers. Certain characteristics animals possess which defy human nature help to develop Robert’s character, animals in this novel are displayed to be closely related to Robert, the animals represent values of Robert, and of society today and they are often used by Findley as a symbol of hope amidst devastation.

Five mammalian species, which are dog, cat, horse, opossum, and deer, are distributed into cladogram based on morphological character and molecular data. This allows identifying the relatedness of these species. By their appearances of structures and behaviors, the dog and cat eat meet while deer and horse eat plants. This prediction leads to the hypothesis that car and dog are close whereas deer and horse are related.
Dear Editor, In “A Change of Heart About Animals,” Jeremy Rifkin says, “They feel pain, suffer and experience stress, affection, excitement, and even love - and these findings are changing how we treat them. We should think before we act because it affects the animals the same way it affects us. Beings raised in a well-mannered family, I believe that we should treat everyone and everything the same way we think humans should be treated. Studies have shown that animals are actually smart. For example, the two birds mentioned, Betty and Abel had cognitive abilities.They were able to figure out how to get the food out of a tube with a wire that was provided to them.
Carter argues to support or enhance the key issues that eating meat is right based on superiority, self-consciousness, reasoning, moral capability, rights, duties, and sentience. Carter shows that the statement that animals have an interest in their own lives and that we should not treat them like things is a cornerstone in many vegetarian theories. But then he questions this argument in that even the smallest insect has an interest in its own life, but you do not see people actively opposing the killing of all living creatures. He also questions the statement that animals can even make this assertion and are not just living out of basic instinct. And, although a creature may try to stay alive, is it doing so out of the fact it doesn't want to die, or the basic instinct that it has to stay alive.

In addition to the sterilization caused by these procedures, there are also health benefits that arise from having your pet spayed or neutered. According to the American Humane Association, there are both instant and long term benefits of these procedures. A spayed a female cat “eliminates the constant crying and nervous pacing,” and “eliminates the messiness associated with the heat cycle (American Humane Association, 2011)” for female dogs. In both male cats and dogs, neutering can “prevent certain undesirable sexual behaviors, such as urine marking, humping, male aggression and the urge to roam.” Also, animals in multi-pet houses are far more likely to get along with one another if they are “fixed.” Long term health benefits for spayed females of both species (when completed before the animal’s first “heat” cycle) include nearly completely eliminating the risk of breast cancer, and fully eliminating any chance of uterine infections and uterine cancer.
A further strength of measuring observable behaviours is that data is easier to quantify and collect making carrying out statistical tests easier. A weakness of behaviourism is that many of behaviourist theories have come from being tested on animals; for example skinners experiments on operant conditioning using pigeons. This makes the results less valid because humans are so much more complex than animals; animals only rely on basic natural instincts: food, reproduction, survival. So the research may not actually be applicable to humans. However, carrying out research on animals means that important theories can be tested that would otherwise be too wrong to test on humans.
Animals such as weasels have a simpler way of living. Me as a human being, I tend to over think every action I make. There is so many things wrong in this world that sometimes causes me to live in fear and avoid certain situations. This causes me to analyze my actions to protect myself and family. The weasel is an animal of instinct and action in which God created him to be.
