Science studies how everything works from the smallest (quarks) to the largest (Galactic clusters and possibly even bigger) But astronomy is just the science or study of how everything interacts in the universe. Astronomy studies how planets interact with stars and how stars interact in galaxies with their local group, then how local groups form clusters and how they interact with each other d. Who was Aristotle and what was his relationship to the science of
The study of astronomy is one of the oldest studies of science. People from ancient times have left evidence of their study of the skies. The Great Pyramids of Giza were built in the same pattern as the constellation Orion’s Belt. The Mayans had made their calendar by studying the stars. Basically their whole life depended on the stars.
Cosmic Creation Myths Across Cultures Tiffany Lakes HUM/105 November 12, 2012 Terry Jones Cosmic Creation Myths Across Cultures In this paper I will pick at two creation myths from two different cultures. I will be discussing which worlds or worlds such as sky, earth, and underworld, are represented in the myths I chose and also what are the elements of these worlds in a more explanation way. Describing the creators and are the creators male or female, and of what significance is gender in both stories. I will be telling what they created, including the steps or the cycles of the creation. This will include any destroyers or destruction to these cultures.
LIBERTY University Interpretive Question 1 Does “day” mean a 24-hour period or ages? A Research Paper Submitted to Dr. scott phillips School of RELIGION by SCOTT r. REICHERT LYNCHBURG, VIRGINIA September 10, 2013 Interpretive Question 1 Does “day” mean a 24-hour period or ages? In Coogan’s The Old Testament, A Historical and Literary Introduction to the Hebrew Scriptures, the author makes the statement that it is important to remember the cultural influence as well as the genre of the message from scripture. Coogan relates that the knowledge at the time of this writing relating to the universe was geocentric. However, it is important to realize they were writing a religious document, not a scientific one.
Unit 11 – AO1 – The Universe and the Big Bang Introduction - This AO explores the parts that make up the universe and how these parts tie in to each other to make up the world we live in. Check List - This assignment requires the following tasks to be completed: 1. Features of the Universe * The Universe * The Big Bang Theory * Stars * Galaxies * Constellations * Nebulae * Planets * Asteroids * The Sun 2. Life Cycle of a Star * Explain each of the 6 stages of a star’s life cycle. Include the name given to the star for each stage 3.
Consequently, the study of the birth, life, and death of stars is central to the field of astronomy. ] (Netting, 2011) We explore the complexity of the stars and what astronomers use to determine fundamentals of their temprature, speed , rotation, and composition.
The dates observed on the simulation set up are very much different from the dates given in the astrological calendar for the entry and exits of the sun. According to the astrological calendar the sun passes through 12 constellations whereas according to my observation on the starry night set up the sun passes through 13 different constellations. The constellations are of different size and since the ecliptic passes through larger or smaller portions of each constellation and the speed of the Earth around the Sun vary along its orbit. Therefore, the time period that sun remains in each constellation vary. I think these dates are different because the astrologers predict that the size of constellation different than what astronomers consider the size of constellation.

Cooks first journey was in 1768 and his objective was to observe the plant Venus as it passed between the earth and the sun – this observation would help astronomers to calculate the distance of the sun from earth, he also hoped to find the southern continent. He visited Tahiti where he made observations of Venus, the Society Islands and New Zealand. He mapped most of the two main islands of New Zealand. His second expidition was to either discover the southern hemisphere or prove that it didnt exist. He went below 70 deg latitude that was the farthest any European had ever
