the time, money, and energy the NEA puts into issues like same sex marriage, abortions, homosexuality, womens rights, etctra, is excessive when we have students graduating who have great difficult with reading or struggle with basic math skills. the NEA's powerful hold on education today leaves them mostly responsible for the holes we have in our education. it is not only the faulty curriculum, but most importantly the failing teachers who the NEA hides, defends, supports, and so on; sticking by their constant cry of not enough pay, however is that an excuse to pass students who should have been held back years ago? the most disturbing problem with the NEA is when they brag about the success of their million dollar programs that are supposed to increase reading and writing skills, math skills, and overall education; the issue occurs when barely a quarter of students show positive results. how can anyone boast and petition funds for programs that are not
The statics show that more money is put into public education in the wealthier areas. These tend to be white neighborhoods. Incomes are higher thus house prices are higher thus taxes are higher and the money put into education is higher. Latinos and Black families tend to be larger and rely on less income than those earned by White families. Latinos and Black works tend to have to work more than one job to make ends meet.
There were several reasons for the introduction of proportional electoral systems in the UK, the most notable being the widespread discontentment felt for the unrepresentative nature of FPTP amongst the public. This dissatisfaction with FPTP was steadily growing (since it failed in the 1970s to produce strong majority governments) and by electing those newly devolved bodies and assemblies using a proportional system the government was able to check public support for each system by means of referencing turnout/spoiled ballots etc. This also meant that the government were able to introduce proportional electoral systems for the public (ticking all the right boxes in the electorate’s eyes) without having to go through the numerous complications involved in reform of the Westminster electoral system. “Bullying is a big problem that effects millions of students, and it has everyone worried, not just the kids on it’s receiving end” (Lyness 1). Bullying does not just affect kids, but the parents too. It affects the parents because a lot of their children begin to be afraid attending school. In the novel Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, Melinda was affected by being bullied lead her to think about suicide, scared of coming to school, and victims like Melinda begin to not care about school and fail. Melinda was affected by being bullied and led to many things and one of them is thinking about suicide.
College admission is seen to be as very nerve-racking for all hopeful candidates. There is plenty of discrimination in this selective process, especially in Ivy League universities. The entire college application process is very tedious, lengthy, and expensive. Application skills are not something every high school senior has a good grasp on, so it can be extremely difficult for those that are not equipped with the knowledge. “The admission culture of selective colleges today is characterized by a rising degree of deception and –no doubt, unintended –cruelty” (Delbanco 117).
There is a sense of fear when it comes to certain tasks completed by technology: A fear of being left behind or being considered a social outcast. There is also an instinctive trait in us humans to fear what we do not know. There are those of the previous generations who try their best to keep abreast with current technological advances and then there are those whose fear is so great that they completely shut down the whole concept of trying to learn about technology. Throughout America’s society there have always been technological advances to better the country and the world as a whole, but as time progressed, the ability to adopt and adjust to these changes decreased as people ages increased. It seemed as if the only people who were able to keep up with the rapid change were the youth.
The long-term unstable society and the cold war made them have the sense of lost. They began to suspect the democracy of their country. Facing this kind of frustration, their choices were not decadence, depression, but resistance. They disbelieved their government, hated the Vietnam War, but they were still patriotic. Although the Counterculture Movement had many negative factors, such as decadent, crackers, vulgar and mysterious, which caused a bad effect on the youth, behind the decadent lifestyle, they had the motivated and raging dreams.
