The Value of Life Essay Today’s society does not give to life its own value. There are many people who do not care about their own life not even about other’s lives. People around the world make campaigns about the importance of the value of life. Even there are some organizations that are pro-life which means that they are against death. However, it seems like no many people take care about the value of life. In Hamlet’s soliloquy, the author expressed his pessimism about life and for him the easiest way to avoid suffering is suicide. This might be common for many people about how they see life today. When a difficult situation strikes a person, if the individual has a pessimist way of looking at the problems, then probably that person will commit suicide or even will made a bad decision. According to the decisions that a person makes, then is how he or she will solve the problem present in life. Hamlet said “Or to take arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing end them”. This means that death would be a good solution against suffering, but it is never the best answer to solve problems. Why do many people try to stop their pain with more suffering? This could be a question that optimistic person might ask. In the autobiography “It’s Not About the Bike” by Lance Armstrong, he described how difficult was life for him. He explained the difficult that was for him to fight against cancer. Lance Armstrong considered that life was so valuable and said that he did not know why he got cancer, and how he could survive to the illness. Nevertheless, he knew that life has given him a second chance and he felt optimistic even after all the bad thing he had to overcome in his life such as the brain surgery and cancer.
