“The truth is that cancer was the best thing that ever happened to me. I don’t know why I got the illness, but it did wonders for me and I wouldn’t want to walk away from it. Why would I want to change, even for a day? The most important and shaping event in my life?” Armstrong stating that he is happy for being diagnosed with cancer because it made him the person who he wanted to be and who he is today. Stating back to my claim that we all have a purpose for being here.
He actually risked his life and tried to triple his IQ, by going through a surgery. He was also cheated and was not told that there wasn’t enough research in that area. The saddest and worst effect was that he will always remember being a brilliant genius but he will never get the chance to be on again. That is just a little bit compared to the other sad things he went through, but that is why I am against him having the
I was a little upset that Rahim Khan didn't tell Amir that he knew what happened to Hassan. He only said that "there is a way to be good again". I felt that the movie didn't properly portray Amir's guilt over this situation, especially since it was such an important aspect in his life - it shaped the man he became. Also, I felt Amir's time with Sohrab before heading back to America was too brief and too easy. In the novel, they really struggled with many things - the adoption process, Sohrab trusting Amir and most importantly, Sohrab's attempted suicide.
Boorstin disputes all these many things but doesn’t make a claim for medicine, one of our biggest achievements. We are now living longer lives; the man who was once dying of smallpox down the road is living a healthy life. Just the strides that have been made in respect to cancer are astonishing; it was only maybe a decade ago that if you got cancer it was a death sentence. People are now able to live they have been given maybe some more time to do the things they wanted to do. Medicine doesn’t dilute us, if you are dying and you are given the opportunity to either live a little longer or be cured believe me you will start seeing life in a way you’ve never seen in before, you’ll have a greater appreciation for the things you have in life.
I know there are already 3 other approved medications out there but I respect these 2 men for having the courage to test this new medication that is being tested on alcoholics. By them taking this and people studying their results, this can possibly save many lives in the near future or keep families together as well as help people find themselves again. Tom and Adam proved that by taking these medications it helps them and does not give them the urge to consume alcohol. They showed that even though you may take the wrong path, somewhere down the road you can fix it and become who you wanted to
When Dax said he was happy to be alive it gave Dr. Larson reassurance for his actions years before. He also claimed that Dax had many opportunities to take his own life after the treatment, which he failed to do so. I see this as the most prolific positive for keeping Dax alive. He was able to continue seeing his family and enjoy being alive given his quality of life. It is difficult to put yourself into the situation Dax was dealing with, the only way to understand would require one of us experiencing the pain he was going through.
Maybe it does sound cold, to say that somebody died due to their own irrational decisions. But it is also wrong to ridicule somebody else for a wrongdoing that they did not commit. Granderson sheds an important opinion on a touchy topic. Why are we aiming the decision to excessively drink, and not using common sense, they either got hurt or they died. It is important to make sure that people make good decisions, and step up for what they have
All the evidence is there and it proves why this tale is one of caution. The story warns the reader that if you were mean and greedy, no one would like you. Also, the book shows how a man like Scrooge would not leave a positive impact on the world. One of the biggest fears in life is to die alone without leaving some sort of positive impact on the earth, or at the very least in one persons life. People should take caution in these facts, so that they can live their lives happily and not obtain the same unfortunate fate as
First, he explains that we will experience emotional pain when we recognize that the work we would love to do might just be unavailable enough to make us doubt that we can proceed. Maisel states, “This is an emotional suffering that researchers haven’t examined: the pain of wanting to do certain intellectual work but not being capable of it.” He then goes on to discuss ways to help your brain to be its best. This can range from silencing the self-talk that can rob you of your confidence, to making fewer excuses about why you don’t have the time, patience, or ability to think. Secondly he points out that choosing the intellectual work that matches your native intelligence, or in other words, staying in your comfort zone. He tells us to find an area of work that isn’t too difficult which enables you to do work that makes use of all your strengths.
Lance Armstrong, world-renowned cyclist, talks about his thinking upon life in a reasonable manner in “It’s Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life.” He gives off the notation that life is unpredictable and the way of going about carrying oneself through it all is to press on at the best of your ability because life is so precious. He says, “I’ve read that I flew up the hills and mountains of France. But you don’t fly up a hill. You struggle slowly and painfully up a hill, and maybe if you work very hard, you get to the top ahead of everyone else… People die. And after you learn it, all other matters seem irrelevant.
