M1 - Analyse how one UK Destination Attracts Inbound and Domestic Visitors and meets their needs: D1 – Evaluate the Effectiveness of One UK Destination in Attracting and Meeting the Needs of Inbound and Domestic Visitors: A) A retired couple from Sheffield are visiting York by train for a short break. They are interested in visiting the sights of the city and are keen to see a show at the Grand Opera House. Access to Information: The couple will be able to find information about York on the Visit York website which will give information about the sights of York. The website also has a small section about the Grand Opera House and has a list of a few events that are currently going on. In order to find more information about the shows that are going on and to book tickets for the venue they could go to ticket buying websites such as ATG Tickets and Ticketmaster. On the ATG Tickets website, it lists the shows that are currently being played and gives detailed information and reviews about each. The couple can also use this website to book their tickets. Accommodation: As the couple are interested in visiting the sights of York and the Grand Opera House they may want to stay close to the city centre. They could look at hotel booking websites such as Late Rooms and Hotels.com to find a range of hotels in the centre of York to compare the best prices. One place they could look at would be Hotel du Vin and Bistro which is a modern hotel with an old twist and only 0.68 miles to the city centre. Another hotel they could look at would be the Park Inn which is only 0.17 miles to the city centre and would be ideal if the couple want to stay in a well-known chain hotel. However, as the couple are retired they may prefer a more country style hotel situated outside of York where it is quieter.
