Recruitment sources and the regulatory framework Unit 13: Recruitment and Selection in Business By Brigita Danisevskyte To make sure that the process of recruitment is being handle fairly and to ensure that everyone has equal rights to get the job, there are many legislations that all the businesses have to follow, as the recruitment and selection is an essential part for all of the businesses. Most of the recruitment all around the UK has to face legislations, along with few legislations that are governed by the European Union, due to the fact that the UK is part of Europe. Laws are changing all the time so it very important for all the organisations to keep an eye on all of the changes happening, as it has an effect on the recruitment and selection. These legislations are also used to prevent discrimination and victimisation, and to keep a relationship between employers and employees. If legislation is not being followed, their could be quanciquences like, having to pay a fine or even getting a prison sentence. Equality Act 2010 - legislation that gives everyone with different characteristics such as, religion, sexuality, race and disability equal rights and protection from discrimination and victimisation. National Minimum Wage - lays out the hourly rate of minimum national minumum wage within the UK, for people aged 16 and over. People who are 21+ currently earn £6.50 an hour, 18-20 year olds £5.13, people who are under 18 (16-17) earn £3.79 per hour and people who are doing apprenteships are getting £2.73 for one hour.
