It is my duty to take care of vulnerable adults and to ensure that their needs and well-being are looked after. I exercise reasonable care with respect to individuals’ best interests, this includes protecting service users from any harm or abuse that may occur and avoiding any acts that could result in injury but it also means respecting service users and giving them choices. 1.2 The care contributes of safeguarding or protection of the people in my care is to protect them from sexual, physical or emotional harm by main ting a safe environment where they feel safe and able to talk to myself or staff about anything they feel is not right or concerns them or their families have about the care being proved. There is paper work in place to stop such thing as behaviour charts and working in pairs to be able to observer each in work. This helps to ensure against risk of allegation of misconduct or abuse. Social workers assess the needs of individuals, and have access to different services of support and protection. They working together with other services such as doctors, community nurses, occupational therapists ensure that they are getting the care and support needed to live happily and have a good quality of life Police investigate any allegations of abuse and will arrange support and protection for the individual, they take action against abuse for example they will gather any evidence to build a case so the abuser can be prosecuted. Medical professionals such as Doctors, Nurses can examine the individuals for any marks/bruising and treat and medical problems as well as collecting medical evidence and being an expert
Giving a good duty of care is getting to understand different lifestyles and cultures respecting the individuality and diversity of the people who enter the hospital. Not discriminating against people because they have different ways of life or have different beliefs. Ensure that your behaviour, words and actions and those of people working in your area support a commitment to equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion. It is important that I know my personal responsibilities and liabilities under the equality legislation and any relevant codes of practice. Also to be aware of the diversity and needs of your patients and identify areas where needs could be better satisfied and where the diversity of patients could be improved.
By following the codes of practice for social care workers and the company policy, the care worker should act in a way that promotes their independence but at the same time keeps them safe.
