He says “We were raging then, the way we stole and broke peoples windows”. Yunior says “I had another year to go in high school no promises elsewhere”, this shows us that he has no interest to advance himself in life. Later in the story when he takes his mother to the mall, he tells us the system him and Beto used to use to steal from stores, they would walk in with empty bags and come out loaded. He tells us how he used to steal 2-3 hundred dollars worth of goods each time. We see that Yunior didn’t work for his things, he would just steal them, and when he would buy things the money used was made selling drugs.

How often do we see an advertisement that is not selling anything? This was the case when “ John Hancock Life Insurance Company of Boston, Massachusetts, ran a series of low-keyed print advertisements that touted historic figures from the nation’s past.” (Doyle). The insurance company has the name of one of the most revolutionary and great leaders that America has ever witnessed, John Hancock. By presenting important figures like George Washington, Elizor Wright, Fredrick Remington, Robert Morris, Abraham Lincoln and Walt Whitman in their ads, the company ended up informing and reminding the readers of Americas ardent patriots. Also by using the revolutionary leaders as the images for the ads, the company ended up gaining credibility which in the long run worked in the company’s advantage.

The lieutenant’s name was Louis Zamperini. In boyhood, he'd been a cunning and incorrigible delinquent, breaking into houses, brawling, and fleeing his home to ride the rails. As a teenager, he had channeled his defiance into running, discovering a prodigious talent that had carried him to the Berlin Olympics and within sight of the four-minute mile. But when war had come, the athlete had become an airman, embarking on a journey that led to his doomed flight, a tiny raft, and a drift into the unknown.
People see the world not as it is, but as they are. When I was a child, there was an old man who lived two doors down; my brother, Jack, and I only ever saw him when he had to put his bins out on a Monday night. Naturally we both made up plots, where he was always the villain, murdering young girls or keeping captives in his basement. One Sunday afternoon we had nothing to do and so we decided to investigate this matter further. We snuck out of our gate and walked down the street until we were outside his house.
Rudy and I went through everything together from the bullies, to the thieving from Isla, and from sports. Rudy had lemon colored hair, bony legs and sharp teeth. Let alone his bony legs, he wanted to be a star runner like Jesse Owens. I remember the time where he covered his whole body in charcoal and ran around the track, and then his dad came and got him and talked to him. We joined the apple stealing gang together.
