This type of friend, in either category, knows when what’s being asked of them is too far; they are also those who want to see the best in you and will always be by your side, even when the going gets tough. Most of all, a true friendship is a mutual symbiotic relationship and it’s these relationships that are an essential part of life because friends help us through tough situations, they offer hope make someone feel worthwhile. Many books and/or short stories try to capture the importance of these relationships and in any form of literature we see either healthy friendships or ones that will never last. The last three pieces that we, as a class, had to read we were able to see how “friends” interact and how friends are supposed to act based upon the teachings offered by Aristotle on the subject matter. All three of the texts of “Melvin in the Sixth Grade” by Dana Johnson, “Book IX” by Aristotle, and “The Man who was Recklessly Curious” by Miguel de Cervantes are written on the subject of friends, however all portray their message in different light.
It says that I care about safety and security of people I love, such as family members, friends and others. It is very true since I would love to get things done as much as possible for them, and make sure that everything runs smoothly in their daily lives. I would spend my whole day doing things for a person without the need of anything in return. Even though I make myself feel that I am stupid, I always want to do over and over again for people in order to help them whenever they need me. I love to take responsibility when people can rely on me; thus whenever I could not accomplish it, I blame it on myself.
In The Fisher King, Jack slowly earns the trust of Parry as their friendship continually grows. More importantly, Jack learns Parry’s affection for a woman he has been infatuated with from afar: “Oh it’s not like that. I’m deeply smitten.” Although Parry has many doubts for his feelings with Lydia, he is convinced through a sense of trust that Jack will assist him to show Lydia his true feelings. This is significant as Parry leaves the love of his life in the hands of his friend. Parry’s tribulation of constantly being lonely may be solved simply because he trusts that his friend will help him be with Lydia.
He’s always there for me, and he’s a wonderful friend, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. He tells me that he’s not my whole life, and that he’s not the most important thing, but yeah he is he really truly is. When ever I talk to him everything that is bothering me seams to fade away like it was never a problem. And when I’m with him, he’s all I see. He’s the reason I smile, he’s the reason I hurt, he’s the reason I cry, and he’s the reason I never give up.
Caleb and Maggie didn’t care what they said though and went on to loving each other and secretly meeting up. They enjoyed life together, side by side. Simone used the theme of love and tragedy to convince her audience that even though life is hard sometimes you just have to take the good with the bad and make the best of it. This refers to the quote as well. Its ironic how she almost died and he almost died too but when placed together, side by side, they can overcome
Even though it was odd to others that these two grown men traveled together, I loved how George and Lennie didn’t think of it that way, just because they had always had each other and that's what friendship is. They protected each other, even when in the end it came down to George having to kill his best friend. George only killed Lennie to protect him from what could have happened. The theme of friendship and dreams is universal in almost every story, because it is essential to life. No matter where you go or what you do, you will always find a friend in something or someone.
Because they have very little, Lennie likes to be reminded that he has a friend like George. It helps him to forget that they are apart of the lower-class. By having each other it helps strengthen Lennie’s confidence in himself by forgetting about reality, at least for the moment. Lennie depends on friendship as well as others depend on his. He is very valuable because he always cheers up anyone who needs
Friendship is a great and essential part of modern life. It offers escape from annoying family and awkward social positions. A true and good friend will help someone get through their difficulties with compassion and love without judgement. In A Separate Peace the main characters, Gene and Phineas, claim to be good friends, however, there are events that come to pass that make both the characters and the readers rethink that status. No one should be without a friend, this world that we live in today makes it near a requirement.
It is important that someone overcome with sorrow has friends to comfort them through awful, devastating times. Those friends are the true friends in life who will be there until the end. Steele talks about how he drinks and talks to his friends all night to help ease the pain overwhelming him. Every person needs that, friends who entertain without needing to rejoice. True friends will help in any time of need no matter the time, place, reason, they will always follow through.
Now you know about the love, gratitude and appreciation for Pinky that I have. He’s always there for me and always listens without a complaint. He reminds me to not forget my childhood, that even with all these adult responsibilities it’s okay to take a moment to be silly and remember to not take life so
