As a child, every fall, my parents would take me and my siblings camping. Dad worked a lot, so we counted down the days of summer, until we got to be together. Every breath I took was like I was inhaling my childhood. I could hear the waves bouncing off the rocks as we sat on the patio and had lunch. The smell of the water and the warmth that touched my skin, when the sun peeked through the clouds, took me back in time to the campground.
Jerrica Fair English 101 September 16, 2012 As citizens of Arizona, I believe we all know how serious border patrol has become when we travel to other states or venture down south to Mexico. With that being said, I have traveled to California numerous times but during the summer of 2010 it seemed that if it weren’t for bad luck I would have no luck at all. That year, traveling to San Diego took our weekend trips to a whole new level. How could a trip that had so many memorable experiences like staying on an army base, touring a ship with all kinds of old planes and relaxing on a beach turn into one of those trips you’d rather forget about? Well, the answer to that would be having your vehicle break down on the way there and on the way
My travel from my country El salvador to the United States. My memoir is about my travel from my country El Salvador to the United States in 2010. I was almost sixteen years old when I decided to leave my country and family. I was happy and sad at the same time because I was leaving my family. It was a Tuesday in a hot summer day in El Salvador that was the day I left my family.
Stare at the painting for a moment, I suddenly understand that nature always has two faces. On the left side, we have a peaceful nature where green evergreen trees grow straight up, a beautiful yellow beach, and some Indians people are trying to prepare their canoes. Up on the sky, the Sun is being blocked by clouds; still, the source of light is trying to lead its shining rays to the beach – creating a mysterious picture of a cascade descending on a mountain in the background. Nevertheless, on the right side is a total different face of nature – a violent storm coming toward the peaceful beach. The ocean, with its rough waves, is pounding the shore, where some Indians are struggling to pull their canoes out of the violent water; in addition, dark clouds have already half covered the right sky, blocking the sun’s lights wherever they can reach.
Yellow Stoned At the age of 8, my family decided to take a road trip from New York to Montana. Only because my father was enlisted in the Air Force and he was assigned to a new base out west. We took a few detours on the way but the most interesting to me was Yellowstone National Park. Such a beautiful scenery with wide-open fields, grassy plateaus, a nice breeze and the sky looked exquisite. It’s always great to be surrounded by amazing wildlife, mind-blowing natural wonders and adventurous landscape.
In it she captured the enormity of her experience with solemn reverence, allowing the endless blackness of the ocean to shroud the entire composition in mystery.” (Messinger 90) Messinger goes on to say that, “Only the bright white spot of light in the distance and the foamy spray of water at the shoreline indicate any sense of spatial recession.” (90) She was a phenomenal technician and her treatment of white is just like that of colors. O’Keeffe was most attracted to things in nature that are boundless, timeless, and eternal; perhaps it is this union with nature she conveys that makes O’Keeffe so beloved as people can relate to her work. They have experienced nature being so beautiful that words can’t describe it; only a representation of an experience can truly express it. O’Keeffe’s Wave Night (Figure 1) is an example of one of her reductive landscapes, in which she paints the simple forms and deep colors of the landscape. Here she uses a palette of deep blues and purples to illustrate a nighttime seascape.
Unique, unlike any other, the Galapagos Islands prove to be remarkable and worthwhile of exploring in great detail. The Galapagos Islands are not only beautiful, but also consists of some very important features, not found in a similar way in other parts of the world. It seems that all that inhabits the islands affect one another, both alive and inanimate. According to the film, a large part of the reason for why there is such huge diversity on the islands is due to the fact that the Galapagos Islands are located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. This location is what contributes to the mystifying marine life, as well as the to the different animals living on land.
The summer before my junior year I experienced the best week of my life. Deep in the beautiful mountains of Colorado about 12 hours away is a place called Frontier Ranch, a Young Life camp. The excitement and overwhelming happiness before getting on the bus for the long ride is what keeps us all sane. As I say goodbye to my parents and friends staying home, the only thing I can think about is having the opportunity to get away for a week: without a phone, computer, or television and growing in my relationships not only with my friends but with Jesus as well. After the long 12 hour drive I can feel the suspense and and thrill all around me.

I was a bit nervous because this was my harbor and Mother Nature was giving it a beating. I did my last radio check to all the U.S. Navy ships that were harbored there. They replied back with “All stations are normal.” It was about eleven p.m. and everything seemed to be quiet besides the gusting winds outside. I turned the television on and sat on the couch to take a break. It had been a long day and I was getting tired.
