Trip To Georgia

Justin Hilbert Ms. Taylor English 1101 Online March 3, 2013 August on the West Coast I grew up in the hot, humid southern state of Georgia. So as you could imagine, when I took a trip out to the Pacific Northwest state of Oregon during the late summer of 2011, it felt quite different. I have always had a strong connection with the state of Oregon. It began as a love for their college and football team, The University of Oregon Ducks. Finally, after planning for months, I got to visit. I have to say, after that wonderful visit, I’ve come to love staying in Oregon much more than here in Georgia. I noticed that the three biggest differences between Georgia and Oregon have to be the scenery, climate and atmosphere. As soon as I got to Oregon, I noticed a huge change in scenery. That was to be expected though, after traveling across the whole United States. The Pacific coast was the most beautiful place I had ever been. The coast of Georgia was ran over with tourists and fake sand, spread on beaches with garbage washing ashore. The Oregon coast, on the other hand, looked uninhabited. The way the tall, majestic trees lead straight to the edge of cliffs, that fall down onto stunning ridgelines where the ocean crashes again the rocks, was so amazing. The culture and residents of Oregon are a breed all their own. Going through the city of Portland, you can always hear the sound of music echoing from a local coffee shop or social gathering. Everyone is constantly laid back and the city, even at its busiest hours, remains very quiet and peaceful. Georgia couldn’t be more opposite than this. Driving through downtown on a Friday around 5 is very stressful. All you can hear are the sounds of horns and people yelling from their cars at the person in front of them. This alone is a good enough reason for me to move out
