When we think about our inner voice, our single story, does it define who we are on the outside? The lecture given by the novelist Chimamanda Adichie July 2009 at Oxford, both engaged as well as inspired me as an individual to look beyond the exterior of individuals based on my own biases and stereotypes. Ms. Adichie, as many of us do, bases her impression of individuals from other countries, cultures, ethical and religious backgrounds on what she heard, read or just assumed. We choose for the most part to take what we hear, read or assume as a single story the only story.
