The Transition to Motherhood The transition to motherhood is an experience that every mother will cherish. From the moment you find out you are expecting, to the moment you first lay eyes on your baby is a journey of the most spectacular nine months of your life. Every new mother’s journey is different and special to her alone. Being pregnant can be difficult and scary, but the reward in the end is a divine miracle from God. Even though many women have different reactions to being pregnant, finding out begins the transition and journey into learning to care for yourself and for a baby that is growing inside of you. Being aware of the unique requirements of a pregnancy could help women have an insight on what is to come and how they can prepare a healthy future for their little baby. You have just found out you are pregnant! The first thing you should do is schedule a doctor’s appointment. A healthy baby should be your main priority at this point. You are in what is called the “first trimester”. During the first trimester, the baby’s face and body are formed. As a mother, you begin to realize that you are about to have a little person form inside of you. This is a miracle of God! Some women may begin to experience morning sickness and physical changes during this stage of their pregnancy. I experienced morning sickness almost every day. People say the old remedies for helping morning sickness are eating saltine crackers or ginger root. I tried both and I found no success. The first trimester brings a lot of excitement into your life. You are getting prepared for this little bundle of perfection to be put in your life; growing bigger and bigger every day. Now, it is time for the second trimester. The second trimester brings more physical changes; mothers will start to show in the lower abdomen. This is commonly called the baby bump.
