Walk4Hearing At the Carilon park in downtown Dayton on Saturday May 19th. Tasha Nguyen, Allyson Skwir and I woke up early to walk at this year’s 4th annual Dayton/Cincinnati Walk4Hearing Event. The Hearing Loss Association of America's Walk4Hearing is the largest walk of its kind in the country that raises awareness and helps to eradicate the stigma associated with hearing loss. Money raised is shared between the national organization and local walk sites. We were in teams to help raise money for the cause; our team was called the Wright State Ramblers.
It is common knowledge that the fear of failure is what drives Kobe to his infinite pursuit of excellence. I applied that same mindset to my summer training. I drove myself beyond the fear of not performing at a high level. I followed the same rigorous schedule everyday and rested only on Sundays, because of my involvement in the church my family and I attend. My schedule consisted of waking up early every day and taking a 1.5 mile run, followed by taking 500 jump shots, a similar exercise Kobe performed during his high school career.
After consuming the best five hundred calories ever I decided to see what else St. Pete’s Party in the Parks had to offer. I strolled past the Vinoy Resort and towards the Yacht Club but nothing beat my experience at the Folk Fair, so I proceeded back. I seemed
There is very little litter. There is a volunteer fire department. The National Guard Unit in the area stays busy and most of the Soldiers in the unit live in Lake Village. Since everyone knows everyone and there is a big family concept in the town the adults all raise the young ones together so there is a lot of respect for elders in the community. There are plenty of blood drives and everyone supports the local high school.
"Our staff is working around the clock to maintain a kill status in our city open admission shelter, and with the warmer weather, our intake numbers are continuing to rise," said Teresa Johnson, CEO/executive director of the KC Pet Project. The Pursuit of Happiness is something Jefferson included in the Declaration of Independence. He meant that we should have a flourishing country with all here working toward the common good of the entire population. Over time, many have strayed from the ideas of our founding fathers and decided to seek happiness in the pursuit of personal gain. Individualism is about personal gain, sometimes at the expense of others. At one time you would see families all together on the weekend, neighbors having a community picnic, and nobody was concerned with who would split the bill.
The Boys & Girls Club ran several different sports programs so I was always there. One year a month or so before summer I was about fifteen (15). The Director made an announcement that they will be hiring a teen to run the lunch program for the summer. At that time the opportunity seemed perfect, but the only problem was that I wasn’t the only person interested. ---What should I do---- Later on day all I could think about was how could I get that job.
Family members of the bikers were very proud of having partaken in this event. One spouse said, “I knew I would never be able to do the bike route, so when my husband decided he was going to do it, we were all extremely proud and supportive” The two days of biking went off without a hitch. The trip started with a smashing success at a breakfast in the park. There was an amazing spread for all the bikers and their families. The tables groaned under a full buffet of delectable pastries, bagels and an omelet bar letting off a tantalizing smell.
I was born in an era where technology developed and evolved at a tremendous pace. It grew exponentially every year. As a child, I used my grandpa's Sony 2-Band portable radio for hours on end, only to listen to a single song. Communicating with my cousin and best friend was difficult since we didn’t have cell phones nor did we attend school together so we sent each other letters. Now, I have an iPhone with 5,000 songs downloaded and I am now up to date with my best friends and cousin through Facebook, Twitter updates, and brief text messages.
Football season was our busiest time of the year and it demanded more time put into our day to Mercury. Members were either assigned to ticket booths, register at the concession stands, ticket receivers, and everybody had to assist with the clean-up at the end of the football game unles you left early with permission. Everytime you worked at a football game, you earned 5 hours tops of community service. This was not such a bad deal, plus you are able to receive about 15 plus hours of community service for a semester. You
