Total Recall The film Total Recall was originally released in 1990, but the remake was released in 2012 and was directed by Len Wisemen. There are four main characters in this movie. Colin Farrell plays Douglas Quaid, Kate Beckinsale plays Lori Quaid, Jessica Biel plays Melina, and Bryan Cranston is Cohaagen. It is not very far in the future and Earth is almost uninhabitable. There are only two territories left, The United Federation of Britain and The Colony. Most people live in the United Federation of Britain, but must go to The Colony to work. The only way to get there is to take The Fall. The Chancellor of The United Federation of Britain, Cohaagen, wants to merge together, but a group called The Resistance, led by a man named Matthias is trying to stop this from happening. Douglas Quaid is a married man who works at The Colony building robot policeman. One night, he goes to Rekall, a company that implants artificial memories. Quaid decides he wants to be a spy and right before the process begins a swat team kills everyone in there, except Quaid. He then magically is able to kill all of them and escapes. He goes home to find that his wife, Lori, is actually not his wife, she is a spy trying to kill him. He escapes once again and runs into Melina, a woman who had been in his dreams. They go to his old apartment where he has left himself a video and he finally learns the truth. By the end of the film, Quaid and Melina must fight Cohaagen and his forces to stop The Fall from reaching The Colony and escape before the bombs detonate and kill everyone. Total Recall does not have all the mystery traits in it, but it does have quite a few. As in The 39 Steps, there is a mystery that must be solved, Quaid must figure out who he really is.
