To Kill a Mockingbird A few names in the book To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, give you an admirable meaning of the personality of the character. One name that does this is Jeremy Atticus Finch’s nickname. His nickname is Jem because he finds the value in things. Jean Louise Finch’s nickname also helps define her personality. Her nickname is Scout because she finds adventure. Charles Baker Harris’s nickname is Dill because Dill in a spice and he spices up Scout and Jem’s lives. The title of the book is To Kill a Mockingbird because somewhere in the book it says that all a mockingbird does is sing and bring joy to people. They do no harm. Killing them is pointless, cruel, and a sin. The mockingbirds of the story are; Tom Robinson, Jem and Scout, and Boo Radley as the biggest mockingbird of them all. Also, I think that Mr. Robert Ewell is the one that tries to kill the mockingbirds. Ewell literally tries to kill Jem and Scout. That’s why their mockingbirds. He tries to kill Tom and put him in jail by accusing him of rape because he’s black. Prosecuting him is pointless, cruel, and a sin just like killing a mockingbird. Lastly, Ewell also tries to kill Boo emotionally after Boo actually kills Ewell for trying to kill Jem and Scout. Boo is almost killed because if Boo is taken to court for killing Ewell, he’ll be emotionally destroyed from all the publicity because he’s been in his house all of his
