Davis ENG 100 13 Sep, 2012 Three Days before Christmas In 1993, when I was just a little kid; I had the idea that every Christmas had to be an exciting and unforgettable night with lot of fancy presents, a Christmas tree, and a warm bonfire. I could not wait anymore to see my presents that week. That Christmas, though, I noticed it was not about expensive material stuff or set off fireworks, but emotions, feelings, good intentions, and share some time with your loved ones. Three days before Christmas; at night, every family on my neighborhood looked so happy and excited. I saw new faces that I had never seen before. The best part was when I saw those persons taking out all those presents from their cars. I could not wait to see what my father would bring to me as a gift. It was almost midnight, and there was no sign of my father; I kept waiting for him till I fell asleep that night. The following day; at morning, the kids from my neighborhood knocked on the door and asked my mom if I could go outside to set off fireworks with them. “Yes” replied my mother, but I was still waiting for my father. Besides, I had not a single peso (a quarter) to buy fireworks. My family had had harsh times in life, but I knew this time was worst. Even though I was only five years old, I could see how tough the situation was just by looking at my mom’s face. Earlier that day, my mom had received a call from my dad; nevertheless, she said nothing about what was going on, not a single word, until next day. It was Christmas day, and I saw everyone was stacking firewood outside their houses, cooking tamales, pozole, buñuelos, and preparing hot chocolate and punch. I loved this season; I had always wanted to be with my whole family: my uncles, aunts, cousins, and my grandparents, but that was not possible since they were living far away from us. My
