18 September 2012 There is no hope of doing perfect research (Griffiths, 1998, pg 97) Research is the systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions while perfect means being without defect or blemish. Curiosity is what makes man want to find out more making him research more and more. The process of research is endless with each topic having to be researched separately. Research is therefore a continuous process that is un-ending as long as human beings continue to live. This is why there is no hope of doing perfect research. “Researching for a problem is not like finding a solution to a problem in algebra”(Lincoln pg.4).Unlike algebra where you are sure of getting a definite answer which is accepted universally, in research different groups of people involved in researching about a certain topic always result in getting different kinds of results after analysis. This mainly is due to the fact that every individual has a different level of perception and interpretation. That is why researching goes on in a bid to find out which results can be considered true or correct among a particular group of people. Research continues to exist due to the fact that no level of research can be considered perfect. If there was perfect research then there could be no more research being carried on. People would probably not repeat topics that have earlier on been researched. “Researching is like climbing a mountain”(Wincop pg.13)where you think you have reached the top only to find out that the peak you have reached is beyond yet another ridge. Research therefore continues to be done even after completion of the later in order to answer what was not answered or left behind. Due to the world’s dynamic nature, research does not cease to exist as new innovations and inventions are done on a daily basis.
