The Glass Menagerie Part 2 Theme of Lack of Communication Family Relation OR Frustration OR Generation Gap Lack of communication is one of the most important themes in Glass Menagerie which reflects the relationships between the characters. Most of the characters of the play didn't have a mutual ‫ ﻣﺸ ﺘﺮك / ﻣﺘﺒ ﺎدل‬understanding with each others. Firstly we began with Amanda and her relation with her husband, and Laura and Tom's relationships with their father, the father who had deserted the family many years ago for his love of travelling of long distances. The father was always outside the house for long hours and he didn't have any explanation, then he had left them just saying "good bye!" Amanda's relation with her son: Amanda's relation with her son – Tom – is set on the nagging ‫ اﻟﺘ ﺬﻣﺮ واﻟﻤﻀ ﺎﯾﻘﺔ‬and fighting with each others. This was the only way of communication between a mother and her son. They are fighting because Tom always stays long times Sm:)ey The Glass Menagerie Part 2 outside the house, so she is afraid that Tom may be like his father "It's terrifying more and more you remind me of your father! He was out all hours without explanation! Then left! Good-bye!" But when Amanda knows that Tom wants to leave the house because of his dreams and adventure ‫ ,اﻟﻤﻐﺎﻣﺮة‬she began to take a new way of communication with Tom. Firstly, she accepted his apologize for her then she controlled herself while talking with him in order not to fight with him. She makes a deal with him, if he could bring a gentle man caller ‫ ﻋ ﺮﯾﺲ ﺟﯿﻨﺘ ﻞ‬for his sister, then he can go whenever he want. This shows how Amanda is a practical character ‫ .ﺷﺨﺼﯿﺔ ﻋﻤﻠﯿﺔ‬It is obvious ‫ واﺿﺢ‬that this is the first time for Amanda to have a mutual understanding ‫ﺗﻔ ﺎھﻢ ﻣﺸ ﺘﺮك‬ ‫ ﻣﺘﺒﺎدل‬with Tom. On the other hand, Amanda's relation with Tom is difficult. They
