The War of Teens: What’s Happening?

Teens. Many look at them as trouble, trying to steer clear of them. That their “wave of hormones” is a storm they wouldn’t want to endure. But, have you ever wondered why teens are “troublemakers”, or why they cause havoc everywhere? Why they rebel? Why they never listen? Quite an easy subject to discuss. Most teens rebel, trying to get their parents attention. They want to be noticed. To be concerned for. To be special, in someone’s eyes. Not what you were expecting, I presume. Really, teens are also trying to find where they belong. They hate the fact of school, yet can’t stop themselves from going. Why? They feel it’s the only place where they belong. They need rules, yet they break them, just to show you that they don’t need them. Teens can be reckless, but have you ever thought they meant well? Teens. We look at ourselves as a species. We act differently, speak differently, and behave differently. What adults see as different, teens see as a new way to look at things. A new way to figure things out. A new way to live. Teens are just trying to see where they fit in. And, when they find that place, they rejoice. They smile. They put their past behind them and fly. But, for those who are still looking, they’re in a war. They make the worst mistakes, trying to cut off the opponent. The thing that messes things up. Themselves. These teens - the soldiers - never know which direction to go, fearing it’ll be a trap. Most just hide somewhere, refusing to get up and fight for their future. But, when in this war, they face a horrible tactic: depression. The one thing that can stop them from ever fighting. From winning the war. From getting to belong. It’s sad, just to know that this could be our fate. And, when they try to tell the adults why we are the way we are, the adults fail to understand. They fail to comprehend. Really, this is what all teens think.
