Other than that, it was not easy for George to shoot Lennie but he had to do it because if he didn’t he knew that Curley would and in a more painful way. Therefore George had to make the sacrifice and be the one who shoots Lennie himself so that Lennie wouldn’t have to suffer. Without Lennie, George also faces other problems on his own such as loneliness with no one to care for and no one to care for himself. We are quickly acknowledged to the fact that the man is a very loving and caring person, and so was his wife.
“All right then,” Huck decides in chapter 31, “I’ll go to hell,” (250). With this decision, he realizes that helping his friend is more important than a traditional rule of the church. Likewise, Huck also reforms and fine-tunes his original moral code throughout the story. Generally his code for lying from the beginning is that it’s wrong and that he shouldn’t do it. But, throughout his adventures, he realizes that sometimes it’s alright to do it and sometimes not.

Julian Hayden’s prior knowledge for Frank’s action has him pointing toward the defensive side while David’s father, Wesley Hayden, leaning towards the offensive side, looking forward for justice to be served against his brother Frank. The crimes committed by Frank has both families assuming the consequences for his actions. Gail, Wesley Hayden’s wife, believes that ‘crimes committed should never go unpunished’, there putting justice on top of family loyalty. In the beginning of the novel, the emotions Gail has been putting towards herself was very yet, interesting. As both sides of the families started to begin a war amongst each other, she soon starts to give up, ‘I want my family back’.
