The movie titled “The Soloist “ was a portrayal of a man called Nathanial Ayers and this film is based on his life. The events that took place once a man called Steve Lopez forever discovered him changed his world. The story told is a true story and the portrayal of Nathanial is from a clinical standpoint is very accurate in its depiction of a person who suffers from schizophrenia. Steve Lopez is a writer for the L.A. Times and saw Nathanial playing a violin with only two strings and making beautiful music with a broken down instrument and it impressed him as well as gave him some well-needed fodder for his next story, at the time Steve needed a good story. Steve spoke with Nathanial and it was immediately apparent there was some mental health concerns.
As Mr. Holland discovers, “Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans”, and as the years unfold the joy of sharing his contagious passion for music with his students becomes his new definition of success. During his 31 years as a high school music teacher, Mr. Holland encounters many obstacles, one of which was the birth of his deaf son, Cole Holland. Mr. Holland, whose world revolves around his love of music, feels he can't connect with his son if his son can't hear music. He uses his music to hide from facing the reality of the situation with his son and other issues in his life. The experiences he has because of his music, guide him to a place of understanding towards the end of his career about his life and his son--this is his opus or greatest work.
Sonny admits that the woman’s voice at the street meeting reminded him of what heroin felt like. The narrator listens to his brother and lets him know that music is a positive factor and can be an alternate to drug use. This shows the reader that the narrator is showing sympathy and has a great deal of understanding about Sonny’s suffering. Their sense of understanding becomes so strong that Sonny invites his brother to watch him play. During the performance the narrator begins to analyze the music that Sonny and the group were playing.
Sarah Ellis’ “Tunnel”, introduces Ken a teenage babysitter, who faces his childhood fear in order to help a child. Ken is an ambitious teenager, who babysits a little girl named Elizabeth. Ken at first feels as though he and Elizabeth don’t connect because they both don’t understand each others idea of fun. Ken asks “Ib, would you like to go on exploration mission?” Even though, Ken doesn’t quite understand everything about Elizabeth, he feels compelled to try and do things so that he can understand Elizabeth better. “Well, sir, [he] spent one summer playing with Barbie dolls and practicing making [his] body into a K”.

Other characters in the book are: Olivia (via), Miranda, Jack Will, Julian, Summer, Charlotte, Henry, Miles, Justin, Jamie, and Mr. Browne.
Like Max, Kevin was picked on by the local bully’s because of his disability, but they blamed Max for the incident. Later that day, Max was waiting for his new reading tutor, it was Kevin. Kevin wobbled in with his hunch back and crutches, gave him a book and told him to read, but Max was not able to very well. The next tutor session they have together, Kevin gives Max five dollars and asks if he would take him to the festival to see the fireworks. They arrive to the fireworks show, but Kevin can not see since he is short.
Bruce was born 1949 in Freehold, New Jersey. He was the first child and only son of Adele and Douglas Springsteen. Springsteen's childhood was "oppressive," and that "his relationship with his father was very fragile. In addition, Springsteen hated school, and often endured the wrath of the nuns who were his grade school teachers. Music was an escape for Bruce, and he was inspired to pursue a career in music after seeing Elvis and the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show.
The Narrator’s character development is seen at this time, he is now forced to grow up, to go from being an inexperienced nineteen year old whose definition of bad was weak to that of a potential murderer and rapist. For the first time in his life the Narrator stares at true badness and he does not like it because he “contemplated suicide” and all he wants to do is “go home to my parents’ house and crawl into bed” (Boyle 130). In How I met my Husband, Edie who is fifteen and is just as inexperience in life as the Narrator but is more mature. The setting in this story is also important because it sets the tone for the indirect presentation of the protagonist. Edie finds herself in her first job, she lives away from home in a farm “about five miles out of town,” (Boyle 203) takes care of the home, the children, and the Peebles’ needs.
Nathan got into music in an early age by singing in church and playing the trumpet. His great vocals were discovered in 4th grade during a vocal class. Morris seemed to be in trouble a lot and really didn’t care about school, one day in a history class Morris would be asked to quiet down and which he didn’t, but then and there a classmate which was known as Marc Nelson would join in and they would both be kicked out of class. Morris and Nelson were talking and it led to a conversation about music and they both had a love for it so they came together and the group started to shape. Marc Nelson was born on January 23, 1971 and raised on the south side of Philadelphia.
Calatrava's family had suffered during the political upheavals of the 1930s in Spain, and they saw an international future as their son's best chance. Therefore, when he was thirteen, his family took advantage of the recent opening of the borders and sent him to Paris as an exchange student. He later travelled and studied in Switzerland. Calatrava was initially interested in becoming an artist so he made plans to attend art school in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts (School of Fine Arts), but he arrived in mid-1968, with the student protests of that year at their height, and found that his classes had been cancelled. As a result, he returned to Valencia and enrolled in the Escuela Tecnica Superior de Arquitectura, a relatively new institution, where he earned a degree in architecture and took a post-graduate course in urbanism.
