Harper Lee’s Portrayal of Ostracized Characters in To Kill a Mockingbird Fear is an emotional response to a perceived threat. Most human beings have a fear of what they do not understand. They sometimes discriminate against others because of things like racial, appearance and cultural differences, and a lack of knowledge to truly judge the individual. Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill A Mockingbird shows that people may be ostracized by others because of fear, lack of understanding or differences. This is evident through how the three characters of Tom Robinson, Dolphus Raymond and Arthur “Boo” Radley were excluded by society.
Carmen Dent Mrs. Roberts English Book: Beastly By: Alex Flinn 1. Discuss how the main character is like or unlike a person you know? (10 points) Kyle, the main character in the book Beastly, is rude and careless. He only cares for his self, and if someone looks ugly or nerdy to him he will be extremely disrespectful to them. There are a lot of people that I know who would do that to people just because they think they are better than most people.
Dorothy Allison skillfully constructed stories made her point about art clear. Art has a kind of mysterious magic that make people fall into an imagination, leading people to have different mood. In her story, she seems making the art become more convincingness that people think art is everywhere; more about the personal opinion or perspective; become more motional to people. Art should be surprise, astonish and bring magic to everyone’s
The Sociology of Leopard Man Society try's to keep people from expressing their own ideas and/or interests. Since society thinks this way, many people feel as if that is the only way to think. In the short story, The sociology of leopard man the author Logan Feys states," society tends to discourage people from expressing their unique ideas and behaving in ways that are different from their peers". In my opinion there's definitely a time to act serious but there is also a time to let loose and get away from society and just be yourself. The author makes a valid point when he said we should all get away from society every once in a while.

Everyone can have their own way of describing what perfect is and what it means to be perfect. Society today in the United States has come to be ruled by technology and the mass media, shaping and creating people’s idea of what perfect is to the rest of the world. Standards for individuals have evolved completely, because of tools that allow air brushing for that perfect complexion, or making sure any posted photos of you on facebook are what you want the world to see you as being. Social interaction has changed completely, and today’s culture can be connected to the culture that Aldous Huxley wrote in his novel, Brave New World. The society
This is very much like our own world where people are being judged by their appearance, or maybe a disability that they have, and are unable to participate or socialize with others. The conflict between these two are the fact that the 'normal' people feel as if these 'mutants' need to be caught, and need to be gotten rid of. The whole idea of human deviations, mutants and blasphemies is all created by the majority of "norms" at the end of their tribulation. However, not all the characters in Waknuk believe that these deviations should be killed or isolated. Some of these people, like David, had accepted Sophie because of her difference.
Say for instance people with neck and hand tattoos are look down on. Even if they manage to make themselves look presentable in the way they dress. If the tattoo is visible where most in the business world believe there shouldn’t be any tattoos. They immediately believe that the person isn’t intelligent. Nonverbal cues are in body language such as rolling one’s eyes, the waving of the hands, eyebrow movements, and facial expressions.
It could be for not wearing the right clothes, having the wrong hair color or even having your own opinion. Being different is dangerous today in our society, because you will get stamped as the “weird girl/boy.” If you try to raise your head above the others, you will get it chopped off. Being different is hard since people do not accept knowledge or something out of the ordinary. People want to fit in and that is why a lot of people in our society are the same. Go against the flow.
He uses swear words to emphasize the situation and the fact that he is really mad and displeased with the government. He uses a lot of imagery to evoke special emotional reactions in the reader. He did not use simile in this song, but he uses personification like “lady liberty is a hypocrite”. The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of freedom, but she is a hypocrite because everyone was not free like promised. They promised that everyone included the Afro Americans should be free.
