The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty Reading Reflection ENG.125 Introduction to Literature Instructor. Mary Louise Phillips Becker Chavon Stewart 11/14/2011 This type of literature captured my interest because in the story the gentlemen is day dreaming allot and this is what my husband does. It kind or reminded me of my husband at times. In this literature it uses metaphor which is an image which imaginatively compares one thing with another showing how each has qualities that resembles the other. This I do in my everyday life as a parent comparing how I handle things to how my parents use to handle certain situations. This literature also has a tone to it which means the mood or attitude reflected in a literary work. This keeps you on your feet at all times during your reading. If you are kept on your feet then you will want to read on to the next sentence and it will not be as boring to the reader. The literacy also use image which is a distinct representation of something that can be experienced and understood through the senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste), or the representation of an idea. Writers use precise language in developing images, or imagery, in literature. This also keeps the reader going and into the story, it also makes you anxious while wondering what will happen next in the story. Lastly the literacy uses Imagination which is the human power that shapes artistic expression; it enables a writer's work to become an expression of meaning in our world, and allows readers to engage in identifying with what the writer's work has to say about things that matter. This is also important to readers because it also draws the attention that makes them want to read more of the story or whatever they are reading. All of these are something that can keep the reader on their feet and wanting to read more and go on to the next sentence. One of the
