The topic of my follow-up paper is «The role of e-business in international supply chain management». The aim of this work is to identify the main features of electronic business in supply chain management, describe the influence of e-business on supply chain performance and to present you some examples related to my topic. Nowadays the Internet penetrates into all spheres of modern business, have not gone unnoticed issues related to supply chain management. Increasingly companies are moving into the virtual space to make their business more successful. In the age of globalization is very important to have competitive advantages, namely quickly respond to changes, to anticipate and better satisfy the customers’ needs, and be in close contact with partners and suppliers. Internet technologies offer to business all these opportunities and I firmly believe that the importance of electronic business should not be undervalued in all business processes. Electronic business comprises the utilization of information and communication technologies (ICT) in support of all business processes and activities which cover the entire value chain, specifically, electronic purchasing and supply chain management, processing orders electronically, handling customer service, and cooperating with business partners . The term “e-business” for the first time was sounded in the speech of the former Director of IBM Louis Gerstner in 1997. The concept was created to refer to the sum total of buying and selling goods and services, servicing customers, and collaboration amongst business partners online. Electronic business consists of electronic applications that offer production planning, scheduling, outsourcing, and other business-related operation processes .
