Your first thought after reading the title of this short story may have been that it is going to be a romantic love story. We have all read stories and watched movies about fairytales that all had happy endings, but this story is much different. In this particular short story it is about the love that two teenagers share for one another. The relationship between the two completely shades all the other important aspects in their lives. The young couple China and Jeremy were always together, they did everything together.
Although Jesse is sad he and Winnie will not be together now, they are all proud of her for making the choice to not live forever. I liked this book a lot, because it is somewhat romantic for Jesse to fall in love with Winnie, even though he is seventeen and she is ten. I like to read romantic, adventurous, and real books, so my sister told me to give this book a try. I could not put the book down and finished it in a day and a half. I would recommend this book to anyone who reads really, because it is a fantastic
Sam’s a very nice girl and she hopes for the best in her life and to do good, I’m glad I met her because I would of never really knew what type of person she is, she’s great no wonder she has so many friends that love her to death and enjoy being around her, what can I say from the creepiest things that happen to her at night to her annoying brother brothering her all the time she’s a wonderful
He illustrates and expresses his love and friendship with Liesel by comparing their dreams with each other as they have both have this in common. It also allows Max to ‘understand that the best standover man I’ve known isn’t a man at all...’, so his friendship with Liesel helps him uncover things he wouldn’t have been able to without her. Furthermore, the message that Zusak is trying send is that friendships can still be made no matter what the circumstances are. In the novel, Zusak shows that regardless of the cruelty and brutality of humanity, beauty can always overcome it somehow. This is evident when Hans gives one of the starving Jewish camp prisoners a piece of bread.
Sarah Draper Mrs. Jennings AP English 12 5th period B Shiloh In Bobbie Mason’s short story, “Shiloh” he uses many techniques in order to convey his overall message. Mason uses of similes and metaphors, symbolism and parallelism to help reveal the once happily marrage flaws and now being unhappy. Throughout the shot shory, not only does the author expose the reader to the feelings and actions of the characters but also in the authors eye he high lights the thing needed in order to make a happy marriage. Mason’s creative use of similes and metophors allows the reader to fully understand how the long distances and time can have a negative afect on a persons marriage. In lines 13-15 the rig that Leroy used to drive was compared
In the fantastical world that is Cyrano de Bergerac, there exists the type of hero that has been lost in the modern world. Although Cyrano feels the ache of a heart “so heavy with love [he has] not told”, and the forlorn anxiety that he would “die without telling [Roxane]”, he is still the most kind and brave of friends. Since childhood, Cyrano had been by Roxane’s side. He was the one that she could depend on to be there for her, to play with, and she was there for him¾when he would hurt his hand; she would say “Now, what have you been doing to yourself…” The nature of Cyrano’s affection had always been true, and never for any
However, despite the pain and struggle Bechdel has had facing her father's life and death, the book is neither morose nor depressing. The author has found peace with herself in regard to her father, her childhood, and who she is today. As she says in the dedication (to her mother and brothers) " We did have a lot of fun, in spite of everything." FUN HOME is a wonderful graphic memoir that is engaging, heartrending, funny, and thoughtful. Readers will definitely want to stop by the Fun Home for this
He now views Allie as essentially the poster child for the innocence of childhood because he died so young and naïve and possessed many positive qualities. Allie was obviously a very deep child who was in touch with his emotions, as demonstrated by the poems he wrote on his baseball mitt. In Holden’s mind, Allie will stay this way forever, something that Holden is envious of and
Through their cultured world, filled with beekeeping, a lucrative honey business, religious beliefs and love, Lily finds the security she has longed for and finds the answers to questions that haunted her for years. The director (Prince-Brythewood) did a great job at making us care about the characters, even the miserable father played excellently by Paul Bettany. Alicia Keys shows that some R&B singers can actually perform well in a movie, playing the snooty June Boatwright. However, the best performances has to be between Fanning and Okonedo, who played the gentle, simple minded, manic depressive May Boatwright. The film has its flaws.
Jamal’s writing became amazingly good and William was able to see himself as an actual person rather then just an author. This effected him so much he not only went to Scotland, but left Jamal everything he owned, including his writing, the most precious thing to him. “Finding Forrester” did all of this realistically, without making the story hard to understand. Overall this is a very good movie that will leave you in wonder at the extent of a young boys talent, and at the same time have you guessing at the true feelings of William Forrester. I rate this movie an 8.5/10 for its clean plot flow, in depth characters, engaging story, and lack of clichés.
