After recent financial debacle in United States and Europe Nike, Inc. (Nike), mostly known as Nike, is thinking to shift their manufacturing unit in some alternative places. Having emerging economy and potential skilled workers at minimum wage, south Asian countries like China, India, South Korea, Bangladesh, Vietnam have become brain teaser for Nike management. As we know that Nike is the world’s leading footwear company, they have made their steadfast reputation not in a day. They are involved with design, development and worldwide marketing and selling of footwear, apparel, equipments and services. They are generally involved in selling athletic footwear and athletic apparel. There are seven main categories they usually consider at the time of product offering. Those are, running, basketball, football (soccer) men’s training, women’s training, NIKE sportswear and action sports. Nike has a remarkable history of acquiring companies. On the other hand, very recently a story is being developed in the market. And that is, Nike is planning to sell two of its brands, Cole Hann and Umbro as an effort to slim down its product lines. Though their stock price has a steady growth in the market, they have gone through a lot of struggles and achievements. After overcoming couple of stumbling block, they are now more calculative. Their research and development division is putting their extra effort to ensure the growth of the company. Both domestically and overseas Nike operates retail stores, including Nike Towns and factory outlets. Nearly all of the items are manufactured by independent contractors, primarily located overseas, with Nike involved in the design, development, and marketing.
