When he went camping with his family over the summer, his mother spotted it and used it as reinforcement to practice his instrument. “Remember the harp player Anthony, always practicing” she would say. This finally pushed him over the edge, he found a way to get out of practicing and messed up horribly at his big rehearsal. Afterwards, his teacher told him that if the whirligig played all the time, it would break. Then he quit and followed his baseball dreams.
Fairly early on, Smith is introduced to his secretary, a critical woman named Clarissa Saunders who for the beginning of his term considered him nothing more than a rookie who didn't belong. As the story unwinds and Smith attempts to buckle down and introduce his own bill with help from Saunders, he uncovers a corrupted link in the government of the country he loved so dearly as he finds his own associate, Joseph Paine had introduced a bill to turn Willet Creek into a dam, which would result in the profit of the man who owns that land, Jim Taylor, and all else involved. In an attempt to speak out and keep this bill from passing, Senator Paine rises and accuses Smith of using his own bill for his own profit. At this accusation, evidence was forged and used in attempt to incriminate Smith, and was believed by a majority and when Smith was asked his defense, he stormed out of the room in disgust. He is later found by Ms. Saunders, who convinced him to run a filibuster on the Willet Creek Bill and prove his innocence.

Wart broke his collar-bone” (117). I infer that Kay is more concerned about his griffin-head trophy than the medical needs of Wart. Kay excitingly speaks of the griffin four times, while nonchalantly mentioning Wart's condition twice after his boasting. This pattern of self-centeredness continues into knighthood when Kay attempts to steal the crown from the unaware Wart (205). Wart does not know pulling the sword from the stone makes him the King of England so Kay goes to his father to tell him that he pulled out the blade (205).
Finally, it will analyze the way he uses characters and settings to create a believable world that draws the reader into his greater theme. William Faulkner has several re-occurring character types that appear throughout his novels and short stories. One of the most dominant character types is the unfit father figure. In the novel As I Lay Dying, the narrator leads the audience to believe that Anse is leading the family on a journey to bury his lost wife as her dying wishes; however, Anse is the exact opposite. He uses his family throughout the story to achieve selfish benefits.
While eating dinner together the first night of Rainsford being on the island he is asked by Zaroff to join him in his new hunt. When Rainsford finds out that he is hunting humans, he turns him down because he says that is wrong, but going back to what he said earlier “’Who cares how a jaguar feels?’"(Connell) Rainsford will be struck with the reality of knowing the feeling of being hunted. “His first thought made him feel sick and numb.”(Connell) I believe that is when Rainsford finally realizes that animals do feel that they are being hunted. After Rainsford is let go the first time, he ends up winning the hunt and finally realizing that animals do feel being hunted. Connell does a good job getting his point across that when being on the other side no matter what, Rainsford for example does shows that you can feel being on the other side.

Edie is a fifteen year old girl that did not fare very well in school, so her parents decided to take her out of school after she finished the last in the class. Edie went to for Dr. and Mrs. Pebbles where she took care of the two children and cared for the home and the cooking. The plot is the dynamic element in fiction, a sequence if interrelated, conflicting actions and events that typically build to a climax and bring about a resolution (Clugston, 2010). The plot in “How I Meet My Husband” is how a young innocent farm girl waiting for a gypsy pilot to write her a letter. She never hears from him again but still manages to find love while maturing and learning a life lesson.
Who are you? You think you’re so pretty,” is something that her mom would usually say to her. Connie’s mom wishes that she can be like her older sister June and be as responsible as her, but Connie wouldn’t ever listen to her mom and would just do what she wanted. One night, she went to the shopping strip with her best friend where she met a boy named Eddie and took off with him, leaving her best friend at the shopping plaza with other kids from their high school. While she was out with Eddie, Arnold Friend rode up next to Connie and Eddie at a stoplight and made a gesture symbolizing that Connie would soon be his, but as usual, she was completely oblivious to him.
