Prompt 2 (Ms. Samuels prompt) Right now I am reaching out to you Ms. Samuels I am going to miss you dearly. This year I have loved almost everything you have done this year, I feel I have gotten a lot smarter from your teaching habits. I will tell you there was one thing I did not enjoy fully, and that was the novel Johnny Tremain. I’m not saying I hated the book I am just saying at parts it was a little boring. Plus I say the book was very long, not that it was like a million pages, but I think it didn’t have that much action to speed it up, overall I would say to swap out Johnny Tremain with an amazing book called The Cay by Theodore Taylor.
We forget that it is God that gives us the things and leadership that we have here on earth. 6. How did David answer Joab’s question about why David did not have Saul killed? He did not want to become like Saul. He did not want to submit to the “King Saul that is in him.” 7.
Contrarily, Christ was already a perfect person, one who could not be improved upon, who had a history of healing and rehabilitating others. In the ‘Christ-story’, the “scapegoat” is the only way to eternal happiness, but only when recognized, loved, and honored. On the contrary, it was unthinkable of the people of “Omelas” to behave in the manner that their “scapecoat” behaved. Simply bases on this one area in which I disagree, I feel that the areas in which Jerre Collins was referring to, his correlations were weak and
This further reinforces that we have no choice or influence on our lives and the events that happen, so therefore God will know the ethical decisions we will make as he has already predestined them in our lives. Hard determinism is the teaching that denies humanity has free will and believes that all actions have a prior cause. It removes moral responsibility for our actions. Hard determinists would therefore agree with the statement above, and will believe that God does infact know what ethical decisions we will make as he has already perceived it. This idea links to predestination in the fact that it believes everything in the universe- even human action- has a cause which precedes it.
In making sure that the secular psychology principles align with biblical thinking the biological issues seem to be forgotten. While it is optimal that every human’s make up consist of all the right parts, not every personality will come to counseling complete due to external circumstances and life’s path in general. Hawkin’s model implies that every human beings make-up contains a complete personality and the core is influenced by the Holy Spirit. This is a weakness because only a Christian’s core has the ability to be influenced by the Holy Spirit. It is more reasonable to lean towards Crabb’s model in this area because he discusses the development of maturity in the Christian walk.
Anh Nguyen EAP 98 Monica Monk February 17, 2014 Best Story Ever When people read any books, they usually have so many ideas. Most books are really helpful but some books are not. Now, I am reading the book that named The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and I already read some reviews on Amazon. Most people really like this book, but some people do not like it, because they think this book is pretentious, and characters are boring, which make many people disappointed. For me, I insistently said that this book is a wonderful book I have read by John Green, even though some negative reviews on Amazon claim that the character Hazel is too perfect, people want to stop reading when they only finish the first chapter, and the story is too boring.
I developed a sense of right and wrong based not on what I had been taught in church but what made sense. I learned that I had been taught hate and judgment. Instead of acting on what I had been taught, I opened myself up to seeing things through someone else’s eyes. I was never able to understand how love was supposed to understand gender or skin color. I never understood whose gods were the right ones or if there really was a god at all.
Did it change our beliefs? I feel that having a good solid faith and foundation in the Bible and God will allow us to read some secular literature and learn from it. There are several secular books that we can even learn from, things such as universal truths. Take for instance the 1850’s book Uncle Tom’s Cabin, look at what can be taken from that book about the fight between the North and South. You could even say that secular literature can help us to fulfill the Great Commission.
Things that should guide people towards repentance could potentially keep their focus looking inside themselves. Once a person can truthfully see how sinful their thoughts and lives are, it can and will hopefully lead them to depend on God. While Crabb is relying on God for answers, Rogerian theory states that “no other human being can possibly determine what the correct or incorrect behavior is for any other individual. Because of this, Kensit says that therapists must keep this in mind and use non-directive but yet supportive therapy. (Kensit, 2000).
Henceforth, nothing happens by chance except for everthing happens intentionally. Through the occasions God demonstrates his anger or prize. Moreover, they trusted that they are God's picked individuals and that they are a sparkling case for whatever is left of the world. Consequently, they needed to make a model religious government in America. Nobody could know regardless of whether he is predestinated for salvation, yet when one complies with God's will and succeeds throughout his life he most likely is.
