The Last Song – Presentation My task today is to talk about “The Last Song” from Nicholas Sparks. The main points I will be talking about are the author, the book itself and the conflicts in the book in compared to real life. Let’s begin with the author. Nicholas Sparks was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on New Year’s Eve in 1965. He graduated from University of Notre Dame in 1988 and is one of the more critically acclaimed authors of the past 5 years. He is the author of 5 bestselling books, including “The Notebook” and “The Rescue”. 7 of his books, “Message in a Bottle”, “A Walk to Remember”, “The Notebook”, “Night on Rodanthe”, “Dear John”, “The Last Song” and “The Lucky One”, have been adopted into blockbuster movies. He lives in North Carolina with his wife, his 3 sons and his twin daughters. Summary: Now I want to tell you something about the book. Seventeen year old Veronica Millers, called Ronnie, life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved to Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains alienated from her parents, particularly her father… until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she and her brother spent the summer with him. Resentful and rebellious, Ronnie rejects her father's attempts to reach out to her and threatens to return to New York before the summer’s end. But soon Ronnie meets Will, the last person she thought she would ever be attacked to, and finds herself falling for him, opening herself up to the greatest happiness- and pain-that she has ever known. Ronnie finds out that Steve has stomach cancer. She and her brother, Jonah, finish the window that Jonah started with Steve for the church.
