In his article, Burkhard Bilger argues that pet owners spend excessive amounts of money on their pets’ care. I agree with Bilger because I believe that it is a waste of money to spend billions of dollars on pets, instead of using the money to save human lives or for your own family’s needs. Gail Posner was a millionaire who left money to pets after her death. Posner was a member of a “wealthy and notorious” Miami Beach family. Her home, which sold for 8.4 million, and an additional 3 million was left to her three dogs.
All Paws Doggie Daycare is more likely to gain competitive advantage over other businesses with a strong SWOT analysis of “traditional logic that suggests firms use their internal strengths in exploiting environmental opportunities and neutralizing environmental threats, while avoiding internal weaknesses” (Barney, 1995, p. 49). Internal and External Strengths The analysis shows several strengths within the business. Currently there are no competitors in the city; All Paws is the only dog daycare within 100 miles. With only one facility, another strength is the current size of the building. The building is capable of housing 50 dogs for the daycare shift and 25 for overnight stays.
It has been found that the decreased alertness, as a result of shift lag, costs the USA seventy billion dollars per year. More evidence comes from the Three Mile Island nuclear power station disaster, which occurred at around 4am, and similarly the ‘Exon Val Dez’ oil tanker accident occurred at 12am and resulted in the spillage of oil in the oceans, affecting thousands of species in the wild. A second effect of shift work is believed to be the increased risk of organ disease that is associated with the number of years spent doing shift work. Knutsson et al provided supporting evidence for this, as it was found that those who spent fifteen years or more doing shift work had a higher risk of developing heart disease. A third and final effect of shift work is sleep
Their promotional budget is approximately 500 to 800 thousand dollars. Most of their budget is being allocated to this project. First in Show Pet Foods, is the leading producer of dog food for show dogs and kennels. They have been successful in their niche market they currently have. Money spent on pets should be spent instead on sick children or stray animals. Americans spend 19 billion a year on veterinary care for their pets. It doesn’t include the food and other supplies their pets need, which it adds up to 47 billion a year. Americans are spending more money on their pets than the federal government spending on welfare grants. (Burkhard, Bilger).
When owning a pet it is essential to provide food, shelter, and health care. However some pet owners take their obsession too far and spoil their pet. Bigler states that “Americans now spend $19 billion a year on veterinary care for their pets.” A specific care given is root canals. With all the money that is spent on providing root canals, the people providing that money can find a better use for that money. The money should go to those animals with a chance not the ones who are on the verge of death.
For the purpose of saving livestock and the health of our country, veterinary pathologists (also known as DVM’s) research, study, and test deceased animals. Keep in mind that they can work up to eighty hours a week, but make between $91,000 and $200,000 annually. Despite the pay, veterinary pathologists are constantly involved in a crisis which can stress them out greatly. Nonetheless, vets are here to help in more than one way. Of course, I have a reason as to why DVM’s are my personal favorite.
Therapy pets in hospitals have been shows to speed up recovery in patients and to keep their spirits up. For patients with chronic or terminal diseases it can often be a highlight in their week because they either can’t care for a pet or spend so much time from home they can’t see their beloved dog. The elderly gain benefits from owning dogs. They help keep the elderly moving as they care for the dogs with daily walks. It keeps the elderly active socially as they run into other dog walkers and make trips to vets and to pet stores for food.
Americans, replacing children with pets and paying for it Abstract Americans are replacing children with their pets. New couples and couples going through empty nest use pets to replace children and the service and product industry have taken advantage of this and the market for these things have grown. Americans, replacing children with pets and paying for it It is estimated that today in America people are spending more on their pets than on children. I believe that there are three reason why this is true. First is that new couples are using the symptoms of empty nest.
Dogs are man’s best friend that’s why many of us wants a pet dog because they are very loving pet and they can also save our lives. Narrative Essay It was a hot sunny day, when our family finally went to Enchanted Kingdom. My brother Klark endlessly asked my parents to show him the dream land of many children with some mascots walking by and giving the children happiness. Somehow these fairy tale creatures can make children happy without such big budget, you can give your children take your children there with only 2000 pesos in your pocket. Therefore, Enchanted Kingdom is a very fun place to have a family bonding.
