Sites like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter have become the place to go on the Internet. It does not take a scientist to know that generally a college student devotes more time to social networking sites than research. College students spend ridiculous amounts of time checking up on other people’s lives than focusing on more important things like studying and research. Missing friends from home is difficult, especially for a college freshman who is going through the culture shock of living away from home. However, college students need to understand that using social networking sites religiously is not just an issue about the amount of time devoted towards schoolwork, but that it can literally change how they think.
Many college students are posting inappropriate pictures and posting comments about substance abuse that violate student-conduct policies or local laws. Students these days are now being charged with code violations because of their Facebook postings. Online communities and texting also is being used as a form of cheating in the classroom. He thinks the students should be taught interpersonal intelligence and learn when, where, and what kind of internet usage is appropriate.

I do believe that technology has made our lives easier, but it also has made us more dependent on the technology itself. When using the internet for a dictionary you could easily get distracted. Anyone can put anything on the internet, so what you find might not be accurate. Most people find that looking things up on the internet is distracting because you are already on the web so why not check YouTube for a funny video, or update your status on the social network.
While there are positive outcomes of the internet, there still exist dangerous aspects to it, such as bullying. Most people may associate bullying with images of a teenager getting slammed into a locker, or getting their lunch money stolen. People may also think that it extends to name calling, teasing, and insults. Bullying has existed for a long time, with some adults thinking that it is a normal part of growing up, that teaches young adults to toughen up and have a thick skin, thinking this will help when they become adults. However, with the advancement in technology and its wide use, a new type of bullying has developed, cyberbullying, which is when a person uses technology and/or electronic devices to bully another person, typically by sending messages or posting comments of an intimidating or threatening nature.
The amount of data and free press is unprecedented and as someone who has grown up with such technology virtually constantly at my side it not difficult to immerse myself in this digital age and culture of limitless connectivity. For better or for worse, the internet has undoubtedly had an impact on my life. It can be, if you so wish it to be a wholly welcoming world – when you have the ability to contact the billions around the globe. They say that university is much different to high school in that now you are exposed to so many different people from such vastly varying backgrounds that it is hard to form the stereotypical clique and be as discriminatory. The internet is so much more than that.
The research paper and its effectiveness at measuring a student's performance has become a debate within the educational community. Critics of the form say that in our age of technology the internet has made sources too readily available and therefore the essay type is obsolete. Yet, there are professors that would disagree and state they are encouraging students to think unconventionally. With good evidence on both sides of the argument it is hard to decide if this is an effective means of evaluation. There are more effective ways of assessing knowledge such as other types of essays and oral presentations.

The media states in order for you to fit in you have to be thin.

There is a whole new curriculum, much harder than a high school one, and for most people their first time living on their own. One must learn more material in a shorter length of time from difficult assignments that will require a majority of one’s leisure time.
