Page #1 Law Enforcement: The Right to Bear Arms and the Duty to Protect Twenty three executive actions on gun control were announced on January 16, 2013 by the President of the United States. These include, but are not limited to: ban on all “military style assault weapons”, ban gun magazines with capacities of more than 10 rounds, required background checks on all gun sales, and stricter penalties for those who sell guns to those who can’t legally have them. As upholders of the Constitution of the United States, the officers and defenders of this nation should be excluded from these laws and restrictions of gun control. The way the current legislation is drafted, it actually handcuffs the law enforcement community from having the necessary ammunition needed to save lives,” he said. “We must not allow this to happen.
