All the Melian men are slaughtered and the women and children forced to slavery. The Melians present a lot of arguments to the Athenians. First they argue that they have always been a neutral nation and that must be respected. Melians offered them to be their friends and not enemies as this would be beneficial to both. But the Athenians rejected their offer by saying that they would not be much affected by their hostility but on the other hand their friendship would prove a sign of their weakness and they would be considered coward to allow such a small and insignificant island to not be ruled by them.
Standing up for what is right and fighting to achieve your goals. To me those are all great things that makes the greatest leader of the country. Sometimes being a good leader means that you have to sacrifice family and friends and the ability to not be afraid of the unknown. Being honest as a leader makes a lot of difference. It makes citizens want to trust you , it makes them want to trust the promises that you've made as a president or leader, or even a mayor.
Agamemnon’s first decision as a leader was to drag the entire Greek army to a foreign land for a strange woman. Although Helen’s departure was an affront to Greek pride in general, the issue comes down to one man’s, Menalaus’, rejection. Is this war really for the good of his people? Was Agamemnon afraid of looking weak? His country would have been just as strong and capable militarily after Helen left as before.
Therefrom, due to these important facts, the wise king Archidamus strongly encourages their population to postpone their attack and to prepare their army instead. In preparation for their postponed war, the Spartans must gather new allies and new resources. By doing so, they will establish a better position in countering their Athenians foes. (1.82) Moreover, King Archidamus argues that to abstain their attack and act cautious is not an act of cowardice, but an act of bravery. He agrees that they’re indeed slow, but their action is nothing but self control.
Agamemnon is showing no respect to Achilles and that is not a smart move to do against your greatest warrior. Achilles eventually quits fighting because he felt disrespected. Achilles made a dumb mistake by letting Chrysies go, and putting his wife in captivity. If he really loved her, Achilles should have stood up to Agamemnon and not let him control his wife. Achilles was willing to fight for his town, but not for his wife which makes no sense.
By making sure everyone is treated fairly and honestly he would be able to create a common vision and bring out the best in everyone. By being the president of the United States it’s crucial that the leader will protect all of the citizens from harm from anyone who may try to harm their country. In Julius Caesar, Brutus faced two problems to choose between: Rome or the death of his beloved friend, Julius
Bush’s intentions with the speech is to calm the country, and be their president. Since Bush is the president, he already has a big ethos. However, he also points out in the speech, to underscores his ethos even more, that he has control over the situation, and that America does not need to be worry about theirs safety even though what just happened a few hours ago. He says:” Immediately following the first attack, I implemented our government's emergency response plans. Our military is powerful, and it is prepared.” He underscores that America is strong and powerful and that they are not afraid of the future because they can and will handle it.
When people do things for the right reason, others may think less of the people working toward good causes. People making important decisions should not care what others think as long as the right decision is made for the right reasons. Dr. King did what he thought was right for equality, which in the end cost him his life. He didn’t care that many white people disliked him for his outspoken beliefs. This quality clearly distinguished him as a great person and leader because he was willing to put his life on the line to get his dream to become a
If I get drafted to go to war it would be a hard decision to make if I would go or not because you may never get to come back alive. Thinking about it I would definitely go to war because it’s the right thing to do. If you love your country why not go to war to defend its freedom for your family and every citizen that lives in it. Your country is your home a real man would do anything to defend their home. America is a free country and I agree with the opposing person that wouldn’t go because it forced on them.
His anger stems from his contempt and jealousy against Agamemnon, a commander in the Achaean army, after he claims his prize in war, a woman named Chryseis. Although he has already claimed another woman as his own, Briseis, Achilles refuses to step down until he can obtain both women and restore his honor. Agamemnon's actions insult Achilles, and Chryseis is returned safely to her father only once he gives up Briseis. Achilles prays to his mother Thetis in hopes that she would convince Zeus to punish the Achean army. This is one of many examples of how Achilles, an honorable and feared man, indulges in selfish behaviors because of the power he holds above others and his fear of losing the glory he feels only he deserves.
