Dystopia; an imaginary state or place in which the condition of life is extremely bad, as from deprivation, oppression, or terror. In the movie the hunger games, the setting is in a dystopic land where through a game, twelve districts fight to bring food and honor back to their land. Districts are ranked from one to twelve based on the predicted outcome of the battle. One of those districts is notorious for its fierce competitors while the other twelve are expected to die off early in the games. District twelve is looked down upon by the media, their officials, including the president and people in the capital because of where they come from. This negative influence by the media demonstrates the discrimination towards class and appearance brought about by twitter and tumblr, two social networking arenas. Even in this dystopic land racism exists for two black competitors were given much negative attention, but analyzing aspects of the movie could make this vision stay a vision.Class is one of the aspects that contributes to the dystopic vision which is represented by the different numbered districts the citizens live in. People in the higher districts are looked down upon from the people in the lower districts and whom all people in the capitol look down upon. It is about the “haves” and the “have not’s.” While the capitol is richer than all the districts some other districts are richer than others allowing them to prepare people for the games, which allow them a better chance of winning the games and bringing back prosperity. The people running the Hunger Games put the people in the higher classes at a disadvantage by posing them against the elements more than anyone in the lower districts, including shooting fire at them.
