In 2007, 81 percent of the U.S. population owned a cell phone, a 20 percent increase compared to 2002.” In a current figures according to MSNBC Sullivan (2008), “The cell phone industry, ... has some 137 million paying customers in the United States…” The growth for phone ownership is off the charts and along with the enormous sales of the units, technology has kept pace. Cell phones of 2008 have gadgets integrated to make them more desirable and can be as powerful as a laptops with some accessories. Cell phones include a variety of useable devices ranging from cameras, GPS, text messaging, mp3 players and access to the internet. With all this built into a device that will fit into the palm, According to Compu-KISS (2008),
Landlines aren't safe to use during lightning storms. People are injured and killed every year from talking on a wired landline phones during lightning storms. Cell phones are safer to use during electrical storms because there isn't a direct path connecting you and the lightning. Plus if you have cordless phones they won’t work if the power goes out. People who prefer cell phones often have very different lifestyles than people who prefer landlines.
EMR has electric and magnetic fields that surround devices such as cell phones, laptops, and various other electronic equipment (www.cancer.org). Electromagnetic radiation is classified according to the frequency of its wave which varies from non- ionizing (radio waves and microwaves,) to ionizing (X-rays and gamma rays). Radiofrequency energy is a form of electromagnetic radiation. Electromagnetic radiation carries energy - sometimes called radiant energy - and momentum that may be imparted to matter with which it interacts, through absorption of electromagnetic radiation (http://www.colorado.edu/physics). Cell phones use low frequency radio waves; however scientists are investigating if these ionizing waves could potentially, over time, cause cancer.
This deal would ultimately make AT&T the largest cell phone service provider. This wouldn’t be a bad thing for AT&T, but it is concerning to consumers, other competitors and the DOJ and FCC. Verizon has stated that this merger would benefit consumers and allow the company to expand high-speed fourth-generation wireless service across the country faster. They have also said this merger would create over 100,000 jobs. Sprint and the FCC, however, do not agree and both have filed separate suits against the merger There are several different options for how AT&T should handle this situation.
Acquired mutations are the most common cause of cancer. these mutations occur from damage to genes during a person’s life, and they are not passed from parent to child. Tobacco use, exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation ( such as sunlight or from tanning beds), viruses, and age can damage genes and cause these mutations. Cancer that occurs because of acquired mutations is called sporadic cancer (Cancer.Net). Less commonly, a mutation can be in every cell of a person’s body from birth.
Follicular thyroid cancer also includes Hurthle cell cancer. - 15% of thyroid cancer - most common in women over 50 years old -follicular cells are the thyroid cells responsible for the production and secretion of thyroid hormones. -tends to metastasize to lung and bone through the blood stream e. Medullary thyroid cancer. Medullary thyroid cancer may be associated with inherited genetic syndromes that include tumors in other glands. However, most medullary thyroid cancers are sporadic, meaning they aren't associated with inherited genetic syndromes.
Airwave: Police Radio System- Airwave radio is a police used system. This type of digital radio is the latest model of radio meaning it's a better device than analogue devices. This radio runs full coverage on the service provider 02 network at 380-400 MHz meaning personal can be anywhere around the country/world and be contacted. All forces, including England, wales and Scotland use Airwave as their radio system and the cost of this is £2.9 Billion. The system is encrypted and cannot be picked up on scanners meaning no one can tap into the network i.e.
Even though Chemotherapy is used to kill all the cancer’s cells, it also kills the red and white cells in process, giving side effects like, bleeding (nose bleeds) , hair loss, and vomiting (Patlak 21). In cases of only having a small stage of NHL or when Chemotherapy is out of the picture due to the damage Chemo does to the heart, Radiation therapy is a second choice. In some cases, however, both Chemo and Radiation therapy is used simultaneously. Radiation therapy is a high energy x-ray that is used to damage cancer cells and stop them from growing. With NHL doctors often not only aim the radiation to the one site but to the other lymph nodes in the region to make sure the cancer is not hiding in another node.
There have been approximately 11000 proposed amendments to the US constitution but only 27 have been passed with the first 10 being collectively known as the Bill of Rights. The success rate of amendments since the constitution was first set up has been less than 1%. One reason why most proposed amendments fail to pass is due to the Founding Fathers when the Constitution was first drawn up. The founders wanted the bar set high because they believed that most issues should be left to the ordinary political process. A constitutional amendment takes an issue away from the normal process of democracy.
(Retrieved from http://www.pcworld.com/article/253808/3g_and_4g_wireless_speed_showdown_which_networks_are_fastest.html) The studies consisted of AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon. AT&T tuned in the fastest download of 4G service. However, it’s 3G service was competitive. T-Mobile HSPA 21 service won in the 3G service. Verizon 4G is top of the line but it does not compare to AT&T. Sprint stopped its 3G and 4G networks because they were trying to transition from its outdated WiMax
