Paul Ricca’s rise to power began in Cuba when Ricca met Joseph “Diamond Joe” Espinoza who was a Chicago bootlegger and restaurant owner. After he arrived in New York, Espinoza brought him to Chicago, and put Ricca to work smuggling whiskey from Cuba and moonshine liquor from Kentucky to Chicago. Sensing potential, Espinoza appointed him as maitred’ at the Bella Napoli, his restaurant. Which was the source of his nickname “The Waiter”. Restaurants were popular to many gangsters, including the leader of the south side Al Capone.

Theodore Robert Bundy was born in 1946 in Burlington, Vermont. His mother, Eleanor, had given birth to him out of wedlock, and his father remains unheard of. Because of the controversy surrounding illegitimate children, neighbors and friends were told that Ted was Eleanor’s youngest brother and that he is her parents’ adopted son. Signs of psychopathic tendencies emerged prior to Eleanor leaving her parents’ home to Tacoma, Washington, like arranging knives around his mother, or harming animals.
Amber Grimes American Gangster The movie that I chose was American Gangster. American Gangster tells a story about how the emerge of drug traffic and trade was in the streets of Harlem, New York. Denzel Washington plays real life gangster- Frank Lucas back in the 70s that was originally from North Carolina. Lucas moves to Harlem and is apprenticed under a notorious crime boss- Bumpy. Frank became involved after seeing how his idol Bumpy had the respect, money and power to do what he wanted.

These men were groundbreaking in their times, becoming nationally known for the crimes they committed. Jesse James was a Wild West outlaw that stopped at nothing to lead bank heists and rob trains. Al Capone revolutionized organized crime and made millions by selling illegal alcohol during prohibition, and kill anyone who tried to stop him. These men changed America for many years with their actions, but which of them had a bigger effect?
In the 18th Century, gang problem became worse as the new generation of immigrants continue to enter the United States. During this time, Irish gangs like Whyos, Dead Rabbits and Plug Uglies and Jewish gangs like the Monk Eastman Gang brought terror in New York City streets (Lou Savelli, 2001). In the 19th Century, the most notorious gang was formed – the Five Points Gang. One of the most notorious members of the Five Points Gang was a young boy of Italian descent in the name of Alphonse Capone also known as Scarface. His whole life was an illustration of the power and influence of organized crime in the United States during the 19th Century (“Al Capone”).
He sells drugs, shoots people, and bribes cops. The movie portrays a crime syndicate like a successful businessman showing Frank getting married with Miss Puerto Rico, wearing fancy suits, or living in an enormous mansion. A scene which shows the detachment between his personal life and business is shown when he shoots his rival in the head on the street. Right before that, he was having a conversation with his cousins. As the movie shows crime scenes caused by black men, the role of black community becomes very powerful in the movie.
The movie shows us 4-5 stories about several persons slowly getting woven together creating incredible, funny and bizarre incidents which you never would have expected. The 2 hitmen (Jackson and Travolta) are out to retrieve a stolen suitcase from their boss, Marsellus Wallace, when a series of unexpected events happen. In the meantime the aging boxer Butch Coolidge (Willis) gets paid by Wallace to lose his next fight, but unfortunately kills his opponent in the ring by knockout. On another side in town 2 thieves decide to hold up a restaurant. And Wallace wants Vincent Vega (Travolta) to accompany his girlfriend Mia to the local restaurant when something goes terribly wrong.
The Shawshank Redemption Often regarded as one of the greatest films of all time, ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ is the story of one man’s persecution and his undying hope of freedom, which ultimately overpowers him into redemption. After being wrongly convicted of murdering his wife and his wife’s lover, banker Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) he is sentenced to serve two consecutive life-sentences in Shawshank State Penitentiary. In there, he meets fellow inmate Ellis “Red” Redding (Morgan Freeman),and the pair form a close friendship. Andy is also great interest to the prison Warden, who uses Andy’s banking skills for money laundering operations. When Andy finds a way to prove his innocence, the Warden soon suppresses the opportunity as he realizes the true worth of Andy and his activities.
Eazy E (b. Eric Wright), a former drug dealer who started Ruthless Records with money he earned by pushing, was attempting to start a rap empire by building a roster of successful rap artists. However, he wasn't having much success until Dr. Dre (a member of the World Class Wreckin' Cru) who was able to create funky beats and produce the tracks was then signed under Eazy Es label ''Ruthless records'', the third member who joined the crew was Ice Cube (b. O'Shea Jackson) who was the song writer of the group. N.W.A. 's first album (N.W.A. and the Posse) was a party-oriented jam record that largely went ignored upon its 1987 release.
