Another explanation of poverty is the poverty cycle. The poverty cycle means that poverty is passed on through generations. In the poverty cycle, children who are born into poverty have a deprived childhood - they experience material and cultural deprivation, and as a result of this they are less likely to do well at school, gain qualifications and stay in education beyond the minimum school leaving age. This means that their future opportunities are limited because their lack of qualifications means that the jobs available to them are mostly unskilled and low-paid. Consequently, they are likely to live in poverty as adults.
Vulnerable mothers that do not finish getting their education become discouraged and loose the motivation and drive to tackle the oncoming challenges that life brings, creating for them another barrier on the micro level; it being a financial barrier. “Poverty and economic loss diminish the capacity for supportive, consistent, and involved parenting and render parents more vulnerable to the debilitating effects of negative life events” (Vonnie C. McLoyd, 1990 p.311). Not being financially stable brings on a lot of stress that impacts the relationship between the mother and child. Education has a large impact on a person’s life and it can change it for the better.

By Marquart she explains, “We found that children of so- called “good” divorces often do worse even than children of unhappy low- conflict marriages. They say more often, that family life was stressful and they had to grow up to soon. They are themselves more likely to divorce and children of divorce feel like divided selves”. I would have to agree with that because I am actually going through my parents getting a divorce and when I found out I didn’t want to believe it at all I didn’t want to see my parents split up it just wasn’t right to me.
Children, especially, are victimized by those sexual predators for reasons such as child’s availability, anonymity, physiological sicknesses, and the lack of child-protection laws. Some children aren’t supervised; they get into the hands of sexual criminals and they, children, don’t say what happened to their family. Moreover, prostitution, for both genders, is also a form of violence. Prostitutes live under harsh circumstances that make them have no choice to sell their bodies. The vast majority of prostitutes in Morocco are people that sell their body to foreigners and locals at a very low price, only to survive.
In the instance that a mother is abusing drugs and applying for welfare, she probably isn’t adequately caring for her children in the first place due to the drug usage. Denying welfare assistance because she is on drugs only puts more of a burden on the children. However, with the new act and its simplicity people are no longer trying to fix their marriages and are just getting divorced which leads to the breakdowns of many family units. For example, the divorce rate increased by 5% between 2009 and 2010. This can have terrible effects upon the family in particular any children the couple may share because a parents’ divorce can be an upsetting time and some children find it very difficult to handle. It can also affect the family because not all divorces are civil and it can leave the couple having bad relations and in custody battles the children can be deeply affected because in some cases only one parent has custody and they don’t allow the children to see the other parent therefore depriving them of a treasured bond within their life. It is surely wrong and unfair to punish a child for responding in a natural way to having important needs neglected. For this reason, punishment is not only ineffective in the long run, it is also clearly unjust. 3. Punishment distracts the child from learning how to resolve conflict in an effective and humane way. It’s irrational of them to keep all of the staff when over half of the institutions populations were released just so that they can keep their jobs. I believe this is why America is in so much debt that because of greedy people not helping children and just thinking about themselves has gotten America to were they are now. Yes They have put in place new laws and reforms to help children but how much is it really helping them and how much are we not
If a child has a family who lives in poverty this may affect delinquency if the child comes from a family with little to no education. If a child comes from a family who is poverty stricken and they live in a low income neighborhood surrounded by violence or criminal acts that’s all they are learning to do. If a child sees a parent, sibling, cousin and so on selling drugs they may be influenced to sell drugs also. If the people in the child’s family are not setting good examples the child is observing their behavior and will most likely will repeat the behavior. Broken homes contributed to delinquent behavior and the child is more susceptible to antisocial behavior.
