Gretel is in darkness because she has committed murder and can’t live with the memory. That’s the twist on the story we don’t expect. The witch is always killed at the end of a fairytale. That’s the sign of a happy ending. We don’t think of it as murder.
I personally think all of the use of technology was effective because they had so many resources and made some real breakthroughs in investigative technology. The general investigation methods were generally good because through searching his house they found the body. However they may have been a bit too upfront with Hawley which gave him the chance to flee which show a lack of effectiveness. The main improvement for me though was in the organisation of the police, since the JTR cases they had earned a lot respect from the public due to the improvement in organisation making them look stronger which I think was vital in this case. So overall I think the investigation into the Crippen murders was very effective, because even though there were a few mistakes ultimately they made up for them and showed real progress to catch
Name: Shakera Bell Date: November 27, 2012 Period: 2nd A- day “The turn of the Screw” is based upon whether or not the governess is delusional or not. My thesis is to prove whether or not the governess actually seen the ghost that she claims she seen or not. Even though everyone else thought that the governess was just crazy, one think that it was a mind thing and that maybe the governess could have actually seen the ghost. The entire house was dysfunctional which makes it seem as though the family has hiding a secret from someone. As quoted from the (plot overview sparknotes 5) “a handsome bachelor persuaded the governess to take a position as governess for his niece and nephew in a isolated home after the previous governess died”.
How does miller present Abigail as a powerful character in The Crucible? Abigail first shows her power when she is heavily questioned about what was going on in the woods. Abigail starts answering the questions that she is given but soon realises that she will be court and get into trouble. So she uses her power to shift the attention to someone and make people forget about her. Miller presents this when Abigail is asked about the devil and she responds by saying, “I never called him!
She then starts to mimic the actions and words of Mary; this in turn builds a solid proof in the eyes of the court that Mary Warren practices witchcraft. Abigail could care less of who she accused and sentenced to death, she watches people die in front of her eyes without feeling any regrets on her actions. In the end of The Crucible, Abigail and Mercy Lewis steal Reverend Parris’s money and aboard a ship because the town detests her and she loses her reputation in Salem. Abigail didn’t expect this ending, she thought by sentencing Goody Proctor to death she will live happily ever after with John. Lack of guilt made Abigail do contemptible actions, which took the lives of innocent
The governess is then convinced that the ghosts are seeking the children with the intention of corrupting them. She wants to protect the children and starts guarding them fiercely. When the governess first meets Miles and Flora, she is instantly struck by how innocent and unusually well-mannered they are. However, she soon becomes suspicious of them and believes that they want to deceive her. The governess constantly switches from doubting the children to loving them.
Gattaca was the best in terms of entertainment. It always kept me thinking about what is going to happen next. It had many twist in the plot that surprised me. The technology that was shown in the movie was very interesting to. Also, I enjoyed the entertainment from the character in the movie, Eugene, who a handicap that was virtually perfect.
The movie was nominated for many awards proving how great it was. Djengo unchained would be a great movie in addition to these was because like Crash it showed how bad racism was, even though it was during a completely different time period. It showed how bad people can act in certain situations, and how badly people were treated back
In the beginning it is revealed that an old ugly witch has placed a spell on the bakers line so that they wouldn’t be able to have a kid. But the witch says that the curse can be lifted if the bakers can find the four ingredients that the witch needs for a special potion. Which sounds very similar to the Wizard Of Oz when the wizard asks Dorothy and the rest of the group in order to get what they wished from the wizard they needed to go out and find the witch and proceed to kill her, which they eventually did. All of the characters begin their journey onto getting what they have been wishing for. Once the witch finally gets all her items that she needed in three days time from the baker and his wife she lifts the curse and then proceeds to make the potion and she becomes young and beautiful again.
Kate Maberly played her role as Mary Lennox excellently; you could actually feel her depression or her happiness. Heydon Powse played his role as Colin Craven great though he could have improved slightly on making the scenes look more realistic. Dame Maggie Smith played her role as Mrs.Medlock and she was an exquisite actress she has acted many films before and she was great. The Cinema Photographer took a lot of great camera shots and angles and actually creates a good or bad atmosphere/mood depending on the scene. I personally thought the film “The Secret Garden” was great although they could have made it a little more exciting and less boring.
