The "Big 5" individual personality variables are broad categories of personality traits with 5 dimensions of personality which are used to describe human personality. These dimensions are openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. For the sake of this assignment I have chosen; extraversion, conscientiousness, and agreeableness. Someone who is an extravert has the tendency to be very assertive, full of energy. They enjoy being with people, are very talkative and often experience positive emotions. Someone who is high in Extraversion tend to be enthusiastic, action oriented and are always ready to accept opportunities for excitement. If I was to manage an extrovert I would allow them to use the personality when we have the opportunity to. However, I would carefully watch this person when I give them a task. From my experience these individuals they rarely go deep when discussing issues and ideas always moving from topic to topic and they cannot function without others around. Someone who is low on extraversion tend to be quiet, low key and disengaged from the social world. These individual enjoy time spent alone and find less reward in time spent with groups. These persons I would give more to do as they are detailed oriented. They requires less supervisions and these individuals I enjoy working with. I believe any business need a mutual balance of both high and low extraversion. Conscientiousness is concerned with the way in which we control, regulate and direct our impulses. Someone who is high in conscientiousness are high achievers who has high levels because they plan ahead and are persistent. These individuals are said to be efficient and as such more can be given to them, they are also said to be resourceful. These persons you can leave task with and know it will be done. They don't require much supervision and get task
